Hi all. I've been looking for a ring for months now and have been reading this site and dealer sites religiously, but I could use your help. My gf's dream ring is a big RB (2 ct) with lots of sparkle. We went to see diamonds together, and I thought we were both ok with going down to an I to max the size, but I just sent a 1.8 ct back to the dealer because the tint was too noticeable even though it was a gorgeous, triple ex, excellent hca diamond. I've now decided that I want to get at least a G and would like to stay close to 1.8 ct. I'm currently looking at two diamonds, one from wf and the other from gog. The wf diamond is a 1.8, G, SI2 with their premium select rating. The gog is a 1.63, G, SI2. I don't think the gog RB is eyeclean but the inclusions are located right on the edges, and I think it might be a better diamond. The hang up is that the size is a little smaller than I'd like. Here are the links:

I'm leaning toward the wf because my gf is drawn to size much more than any other factor, but she also wants it to sparkle. Thoughts? Can I do better elsewhere for my budget? (about $12-13k for the stone).

Thanks so much!

I just wanted to comment that I actually asked GOG about that same SI2 stone, and they said the inclusion could be hidden by a prong. When I look at the picture though, it seems there is more than one side inclusion though that could need pronging to hide, which I mentioned, but I have not heard back on that point yet. Do you mind me asking where you got the I color stone from that you returned? GOG actually showed me an I stone as well but I was also worried about it having too much color.

ETA: Not sure if this matters to you, but the stone you are looking at on WF is not eligible for their upgrade policy. Something to keep in mind if you think you may want to upgrade down the road. Even if you are not planning to, for me it's nice to know that is always an option. Their site does say some Premium Select stones can qualify, but you would have to work with them on that.

That was also my concern about the GOG RB, and I haven't heard back either. I bought the I from Union Diamond. Really a gorgeous stone, and Leah was fantastic to work with, but the I was too noticeable to me in normal lighting. Face up it was white, but it didn't take much tilting for the tint to come through. This was after looking at a handful of stones in stores and thinking that we could go down even to a J if we had to.

Oh, and I asked about the wf policy for the stone, and I think it has a 70% lifetime trade in. You're right that that is also something to think about.
