I wanted the garnet... but don''t want one that''s too purple-y.
It''s funny it was on your radar too ... I think they''ve been peeking in on Pscope & were inspired by your MAIN project!! I was almost afraid to want it -- for fear of being a low-rent copy cat!!

Re: the garnet ... I checked out the reviews on their site & in their (get this) forum ... and people seemed pretty pleased with the color - though it doesn''t show off the cut quite as clearly. Bet it has less windowing though!

You are so funny! I can''t believe that even crossed your mind! Now that you mention it though, I wonder if it would be too weird to have that on my other hand, since it is similar to the new setting?

Hmm. The garnet probably doesn''t have windowing. But it doesn''t show off the cut as much. Will have to consider things a bit.

Deco, you inspired me to order it in the citrine... you bad, bad girl

I''ve been missing my ering as it is off being sized, so this new toy can keep me company when it comes next week

will post pics when it arrives!

I wanna play! Me too, me too!!!!!

This is the citrine version. Holy schmoly this thing looks huge! Never underestimate the power of a halo, I guess

OK I''m getting a citrine version. That''s it. I love it.

Okay, I''ve seen the citrine and green quartz version. I''m curious if the amethyst will be too dark to showcase the cut?

Musey, any windowing in the stone? How''s the quality of the diamonds? What about the citrine? Ar the diamonds at least clear? I''m also thinking of getting one but am undecided on which stone (between the amethyst and citrine).

I don''t think there are windows, but I''m no expert! The diamonds look reasonably clear under a loupe, but most of the sparkle comes off the table. They''re REALLY tiny diamonds.

Wheeeeeee! I missed the post where you said you''d ordered it. WHEEEEEEEE! (I am such a nerdy sheep that when I saw your new photo I went & found my ring & put it on immediately

LOVE the golden hue!

GYP???? CHRONO???? Who''s next???

P.S. -- I *do* think mine has some windowing ... transparenty areas of less faceting that you can see through to the finger or environment below. But you only notice that in some kinds of lighting. Mostly it''s sparkly & fun & comfy & thrifty!

I think the amethyst is pretty light in shade ... I''d bet the cut would be as visible as in the citrine. They seem to have similar saturations ... whereas the Garnet is darker & the Green Quartz is lighter.

The diamonds are SO SMALL I can''t tell much about them -- no loupe! In person you notice the teensy prong halo more than the diamonds set in them -- a nice nubby, sparkly contrast to the watery asschery center. But don''t expect Bling with a capital B. More like shimmer.

I still want the blue topaz!

Oh look what fun thread I missed when I was on vacation in September-- thoes rings are GREAT!

ETA: Happy belated anniversary Deco!

So I'm on the net, meant to go over and buy one of these pretty rings, but instead SOMEHOW ended up buying this pendant from Costco. Ostensibly as a present to my mom for the holidays. But, I may um want to keep it. Because while peridot is mom's birthstone, she's never liked it. Impluse buying *shakes head* I'll probably return it. I shouldn't have bought it. But there it is. On it's way to be shipped to me. It's really pretty though.

Okay, I received my Citrine yesterday.

The stone is humongous. I was expecting the citrine to look brownish yellow but instead it is a surprisingly pleasant golden yellow.. The only thing that I didn''t like is that the windmills on mine are rather narrow. As expected for the price paid, the workmanship isn''t that great, a few diamonds were not set level with the rest and the prong work was uneven.

The other thing that bugs me is that the ring is wearing me, instead of the other way. I guess it doesn''t help that the smallest ring size 5 is still too large for me. I enjoy looking at it, but it looks ridiculous on my finger, almost costumish on me. I''m not sure if I ought to return it or just keep it for occasional fun wear.

Gyp, be sure to post pics, cuz heck it sure is purty....I have been wanting a pear pendant for awhile and I can't afford a honker in a diamond. Did they have other stones? *scurries off to look*

ETA: Checked, and the one you got isn't listed anymore. Though they did have a 3 ct DIAMOND pear necklace for like, 45k!!!!

FG... I''m returning it tonight to Costco. It''s well, underwelming. EXTREMELY underwelming. The peridot is so pale and it''s and oval, in the pear shaped pendant it''s just weird, plus its held by these really ick prongs, the diamonds are chips, and well... it''s just all wrong. If you want a pic, I''ll take a couple and post them... but that sucker is going back. 45K for the pendant huh? I was in Joe Escrobar and they had a pear earring and pendant set... I didn''t ask the carat weight, but they were LARGE, STUNNING, WHITE, and did I mention STUNNING. Simple thin platinum bezel (super thin) around the diamonds. I was in raptures. I was there helping a co-worker pick out a diamond for his lady, so I was occupied with that but I wanted to try the set on so FREAKING bad! I would run over and check them out one of these days if you have time.

That''s what I''ve been wearing it for. It came a few days before a weekend in Vegas, and it was fun to wear for that! It''s good for nightlife, etc. but so not an everyday piece (for me, anyway).

Oh no, I was excited to hear what it looked like. Oh well.

Hi Deco, or anyone who''s ordered from QVC: do their rings run true to size? Is a 9 really a 9, for instance, or should I order a size larger? There''s some great fun jewelry on there!

Selkie,
I usually wear a 4.25 to 4.5 on my left hand, so I ordered the size 5 for my right hand. It fits just right for my right hand (unfortunately, I have no idea what''s the size of my right hand).

Thanks Chrono! I ended up ordering in a 10, so if it doesn''t fit my ring finger it should fit my middle.

What a great find! If only it came in YG as well...

I know it''s not the same ring, but I''m seriously considering getting this ring as a late birthday/early Christmas present from my hubby. (He''s letting me out the present
2.gif
). It''s my birthstone, it looks great with my skin tone, and my other top choice of e-ring design was an asscher with baguette sidestones.

It''s not an Asscher-cut Citrine ... but have you seen
this 14K gold Citrine ring? ... I love the organic feel of that collection, though deep yellow gold looks awful on my pinky pale skin. They also have an emerald cut version but it''s amethyst & green quartz only ...

Deco,
The link does not bring up a picture.

Yay!! I just got this ring in the amethyst (my son''s birthstoen.) ERM, well, I WILL get it on Christmas. But, DH got the hint!! I haven''t seen it so I don''t know how the stone looks in the amethyst, but I will post pics after I RECEIVE it...

I know you usually get what you pay for, but I was wondering how you ladies felt about the quality of the jewelry from QVC as far as fun jewelry (nothing heirloom quality expected here). I''ve had my eye on this red spinel ring, but if it''s going to look too much like a toy ring, I''d rather pass. Thanks!

I got a gemstone ring from QVC that''s a very nice quality piece. It was around $100, and it''s sterling. The stone is set well, and the setting is very pretty. The stone is not a rich, vibrant, saturated color, but it WAS only $100.

I''ve placed an order for the "bad" stones, so I''ll see if there''s any use in that, too.

Deco''s ring inspired me . . . and I didn''t even know it!

I now have cable after 10 years in the TV desert of antenna land, and have been catching QVC occasionally; I went to the website and picked out a few things. Low and behold, I''d picked out the same ring as Deco; same color, etc. Didn''t order though. Started looking at green amethyst jewelry, and fell in love with that stone. DH and I are last minute shopping at Macy''s last night, and he said "come look at the jewelry and see if you like anything" (sterling stuff), and we see in the LAST case we look at, after looking at every case of bridge AND fine jewelry, a green amethyst set in sterling with diamonds (made to resemble a Cathy Waterman thorn prong ring). Gorgeous 2-3 carat stone, cut Asscher style. Sale of 60% off plus an additional 20% if we bought with a Macy''s card . . . he paid $83 for it!

Guess what''s going to be in my Christmas stocking?!!!!

Macy''s doesn''t show this ring on their website; let me see if I can find a similiar Cathy Waterman to show you. Mine has a bigger stone than this amethyst ring I''m showing here; and it has a more cathedral setting underneath the stone; and it does not have pave on the entire band, just on shoulders.
