Just wanted to share my fun day today! My hubby let me loose in the jewelry store with an old sapphire and diamond ring of his to trade in on anything I wanted. Decisions, Decisions! I ended up choosing a diamond RHR which I''ll share later and this 2 3/8 ct emerald blue topaz ring. I love the color of this ring, it just called to me! I wish I could have captured it better in the photo. I guess I really am a colored gem kind of girl at heart.

I love the color of this ring.
Second that... about one hundred times. Too bad there are so few things showing that beautifull, deep aqua blue

Thank you, everyone for your kind comments! I have a question, though. I think I remember reading somewhere that some topaz rings [maybe all?] fade in strong sunlight. Does this hold true for blue topaz as well? If so, I''ll need to keep this out of the sunlight! I don''t want anything to happen to the color.

wow.. wow.. wow... said breathlessly.. that is an awesome color... I know nothing about the fading.. But I know that I am jealous!!

Oh that is such a fun ring! I love it...I have never heard anything about topazs fading...I wear my blue topaz ring quite often outside and it looks to same to me now as it did when I got it.

That''s beautiful Catmom! Good choice!!!

Thanks again, everyone!

LOL at Mine! Ok maybe it can be a little bit of a payback for all of the jealousy you''ve caused me with that stunning ring of yours!

Topaz colour is gorgeous, Catmom you are very lucky lady, bring on the diamond ring soon too..

Hee hee.. Wellll!!!! Just to let you know... called and made an appointment with my 'stone' guy this morning and told him that I saw an awesome emerald cut topaz and now I want a honker.. LOL... he asked if I had been purusing Pscope again...LOL... We shall see.. I think I spent most of my hours last night trying to figure out how to incorporate that blue into my wedding colors next spring to have an excuse to get one... so I am stealing your idea.. the best kinda flattery.. hope you do not mind.. it is stunning and I had to come back and look at it again this morning! LOL.

No... not that I know of, at least.

And not all natural colors fade either.

Ha Ha, Mine!! Well you do know that you must have "something blue" for your wedding! It makes perfect sense to me. I don''t mind a bit of you "copy". I''m happy you like it so much. To my husband''s chagrin, I''m thinking I now need a matching bracelet, necklace and earrings to go with. At the very least a nice emerald cut bracelet!

Oh Ana I''m so happy to hear that they don''t fade. I could have sworn I read that somewhere. Glad to know I''m just crazy! I spend a lot of time at softball games in the spring, summer and fall and now I won''t have to worry if I have this ring on. Thanks!

It''s gorgeous Catmom. I have a blue topaz ec ring but it''s a pretty light shade of blue. Grandma got it for me in Italy many years ago. Is yours a London Blue or a Swiss Blue? Or something completely different? Did they even tell you? Regardless, it''s STUNNING!

Thanks, FireGoddess! I''d love to see your ring. Would you post a picture of it, please? I don''t know which color mine is, I didn''t even think to ask.

Next time I''m at the jewelry store I''ll see if I can find out. It''s a very deep shade of aqua and even shows some green in the sunlight.

I will have to dig it out and photograph it for sure. I''ve been debating a setting change to wg, as it''s just bezel set in a yg ring and I mostly wear wg or platinum. Will take some pics ASAP!

UPDATE: My ring now has a new "friend" to play with...........sometimes those business trips to Asia aren''t all bad!

Oh, how pretty! I expecially LOVE the ring! That color is amazing!

What a beautiful ring! I love the color. The bracelet is a perfect match. Now, are you going to go for a pendant or earrings next?

To all you blue lovers.... ever look into a blue Apatite?
Not too good for a ring as they are on the softer side, but can be very nice color.

A note about the blue zircon pendant - don''t go into a tanning booth with it on, it will come out brown. The color may then return in a week or so, but not as blue as the original. Blue zircon starts out it''s life as a honey brown color, kind of ugly, then gets heat treated to turn it blue. Almsot all zircons are fun to play with, the brown zircons from Africa can be turned sort of orange brown, to yellow to clear in the flame from a candle.

I have a HUGE honking emerald cut London Blue at home in my collection I will take a pic tonight an post it, I have 2 matchiung smaller ones for possible earrings. They are the prettiest shade.

Thanks JDgirl and IslandDreams! I love the color of the ring, too. The bracelet is just slightly lighter than the ring in color. My husband was going by memory of the color so didn''t do too bad with matching.

Autumngems, we sbsolutely must see a picture of that "huge honking emerald cut London Blue"!!! [plus the smaller ones, too]

Oooooh, very nice. Awesome color. Love the matching bracelet!!

Catmom STOP already!!! First the beautiful ring, now a gorgeous matching bracelet IN MY FAV COLOURED STONE??? You''re killin'' me here

Lucky thing, enjoy them both, they look sensational together!!

Thanks, BagLady!

LOL, DanDiAndi. I love this color, too. There''s just something about it that gets to me. My husband travels a lot for business and has learned that if he brings back presents like this I don''t complain so much!

He just left for another week long trip to Asia. I''m hoping he remembers that I NEED a matching bracelet for my new peridot ring and he has the time to go to his favorite little jewelry shop in Seoul!
