New Engagement ring is burning a hole in my pocket!

Beautiful ring, job well done!!... :appl:

It's beautiful! And it looks really big to me, so no worries on that front! I am sure she will absolutely love it!

The size is perfect, the specs are great, and the setting is lovely! You did such a wonderful job, she's going to love it! :appl:

coffee, i am in the waiting to propose boat too. Picked mine up this morning and am planning to wait 5 weeks! I put mine in my bank lock box this afternoon so my pockets would stop burning.

You have a beautiful ring. Good Luck!

She said Yes!

I wish I had better pics but this is the best I could get so far on my cell. One shows off the diamond better and one shows off the millwork on the ring. Seeing it on her finger is the best part!

CONGRATS!!!!
Just started following this and I was waiting in suspense and then boom! She said Yes! :appl:
More details!! Lots and lots of more details! What did her face do when she saw it? How was the chat with her dad?? What does she say about the ring?? Cause I agree, it is a large stone

The whole process ended up perfect for us but far from how I planned....

We'd talked about getting married but I always said, "can't propose until I talk to your dad - can't talk to your dad until I have a ring - can't get a ring until you pick one out..." of course she gave hints as to what she liked and didn't like but there was always playful banter around her telling me what to get and me picking one out. Her parents are about 8 hours away so I picked a time when she was off on a girls weekend so that I would not have to make things up about where I was... and I'm awful at lying. The plan was drive up for dinner and then wait till Sat to go to a localish vineyard for a picnic and walk around. We love wine and had a blast in napa earlier this year so this would have been great for us. The first time we talked about marriage we were checking out at a family dollar store stocking up on household stuff she had a 4 dollar item that she insisted on paying for and stated profoundly that is was not appropriate for me to purchase her household goods until we were married! So... I was going to present her with that same cleaner and ask if I could start buying it for her. She would know EXACTLY what I meant by that. That night I had food and champagne set up for a group of our friends which her sister helped me to organize that were going to meet us to surprise her and be somewhat of an announcement - the proposal would be private and we'd have a day to ourselves before this.

That was the plan... I went with my daughter to get the ring the week before and she even recorded a video holding the ring giving her 6 year old perspective on how she is a part of the package. This was a very sweet thing that I showed my Fiancee' after the proposal with the 2 of us. My daughter and I pinky promised that this would be our secret and not to tell anyone... Risky since she either actually does a good job at this or tells absolutely EVERYONE but luckily she kept this one. It went down hill when I found out that her mom blabbed about me meeting her dad so she knew I had something... i couldn't wait! Instead of Sat I did it on Tuesday at the wine loft at Whole Foods. Tues is half price wine! Tues was the night and this was the location of our first date. We even sat at the same table! - this time next to each other instead of across the table as if a business meeting or interrogation. It was simple and perfect for us and although not exactly how I'd planned it... We had a wonderful celebration this weekend and still went to the vineyard ads we'd planned. I'm still grinning ear to ear!

What a great story. I can't help but wonder at the irony of a 6 year old keeping a secret, while her mother could not. It just never works out exactly like you imagine it will. It sounds like you made the absolute best of a tricky situation and she loves her ring - just like we knew she would. Congratulations!

I forgot to give her reaction! She was blown away... speechless and loves it. Part of the many reasons I want to marry her is that she shares the same sentiment that the ring is a representation of something - THAT is what makes it special and priceless to us. We're not in our early 20's anymore and at almost 40 have accomplished a little more professionally than many who get married younger so yes; this ring is nice but its special because it's ours. Her friends have all gone nuts over it and she gets stopped every day at work!

One of the reasons I like reading this forum is that there are so many styles of rings that all look wonderful and people love but are all different styles, tastes and price points - yet all equally special when they are specific to a person or situation. They all have a story and that in and of itself is special; just as ours is to us.

Coffeestig, you sound like a truly fabulous man. The thought & detail you have put into this is amazing! And huge congratulations!! The ring is beautiful but it looks even more beautiful on her hand - I can't wait for more pics! Wishing you much health & happiness together :appl:

So so so happy she was flabbergasted! What a nice feeling. Well done!!! You guys sound like me and new hubby (4months), the ring was also something that represented something priceless.

The setting AND the stone are BEAUTIFUL! To me, 1.5 is the perfect size! Large, but easy to wear on a daily basis and looks good on just about every size finger! She's going to love it and all the hard work you put into picking it out! :appl:

ETA: I see you proposed! Congratulations! It looks fabulous on her

Congratulations! And I agree that 1.5ct is the perfect size... It looks so good on her hand! :appl:
