I'll definitely post pics and I most certainly understand the traffic issue! When I was in D.C. earlier this year working at our headquarters temporairily it was really sad that the people who were familiar with the Hampton Roads area actually said they thought the traffic here was much worse than the traffic in D.C.

I think most cities will get like this as we all begin to work in cities and business hubs but live further and further out with the expansion of the suburbs.

By the way are you familiar with Bremerton or Silverdale? Is it far in relation to Seattle? We are thinking of putting in for a duty location there *one day*

Oh wow... That is awesome!! I love the yard and the porch !! Your children are going to love it! personally, I am in love with that Tub and all those windows!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!

Bremerton is a 60 minute ferry ride from Seattle, so most of the riding time can be spent reading while the boat is taking you across. . .

Here's a map of the route. . . http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/info_desk/route-maps/index.cfm?region_id=4

Each trip is $13.30 per peak season, and $10 during off but you can purchase a book of tickets for a discounted rate (which most residents do).

FWIW, I use to live on another island in the region and taking the ferry is a HUGE PITA. During the summers, so many tourists are about town that you can end up cooking to death in your hot car while waiting in line for like two hours to get aboard the boat.

If you're going to commute, I say find another military city to live in, like Everett, but if you're not commuting, than Bremerton may be a good place because the price of real estate is lower there. My friend LOVES it there. Her and her husband are renting a three bd lake front home in Port Orchard for $750 a month. They live about 20 minutes from stores like Target, but she's happy with the peace and quiet. Oh, and you can take the Tacoma Narrows bridge from Bremerton to head into a bigger city (Tacoma, not Seattle), but I'm not sure about how long this takes. . .I think my friend does this a lot.

This is about all I know. . .about 10 years ago, lalapoluza had one of their music events out in Bremerton and we went to this and had a great time. . . this was the last time I've been out there. If you have any questions about WA in general feel free to PM me

Michelle, it''s a wonderful home! And 24,000 sq. ft. is NOT a small house! I love everything about it. The master bathroom, the grounds, the deck, the trees, the sun room, the hot tub. It''s GREAT!

F&I,

There are numerous reasons we're not happy w/our about-to-move-out-of house. It makes for an excellent business location (as in addition to the 1800 sq ft home there is a 1200 sq ft shop my husband can store his work equipment in), but for this convenience, we've given up quiet, privacy, and a sense of safety.

One example: A few months back, I woke up in the middle of the night to a man yelling out, "help me, someone, help me!" over and over. I wasn't sure what to do, but went ahead and woke up my husband who then went outside to figure out what was going on. He determined where the voice was coming from but then went back inside rather than investigating. About 10 minutes later an ambulance and some other aid cars showed up and took the individual away. We didn't know what happened, but about a month later, my husband spoke with one of our other neighbors (a really nosy busy body) and she told us that house is a big drug house. SO, even though we paid a decent sum for this house in an established neighborhood, we still cannot seem to get away from cracked out losers.

Also, we want more privacy and room for the kids to play and burn off their nearly limitless energy. I've dreamed of a greenhouse or solarium and also want to garden out front w/out people driving by at 50 mph in our 30 mph speed zone. . .and, there's more too, but really, the deal is we never intended for this previous house to be our home home, but a temporary home. Our plans were to find another home before our older son started kindergarden, as we want our kids to stay in the same schools rather than be moved about, BUT, then this home came up and we couldn't pass it by even though we nearly keeled over at the price. (We keep telling ourselves that in like five or 10 years our mortgage payment will seem like nothing. . .

lol Screwed up logic, I know!)

Oh, and our broker came by last night to pick up our ernest check and we found out we're closing on the 29th of this month. Very soon!

Sorry, I''m late joining in with the congrats. The house is wonderful and I know you and yours will fill it with joy and love.

Congrats Michelle!

I am sure your boys will enjoy "exploring" in the lovely yard! My daughter would bring in lots of goodies from her exploration including bugs and worms!
