Maybe it''s better to do it when you have more time. I will then not make calls and see if I can get more names in the meanwhile. Let me know when you get back. I really have to say it''s tough getting together isn''t it?!

Maybe.

But we''ll have a blast when we do meet, right?

Sure! Once they pry us off the windows on 47th, I am sure it will be fun!

Can''t wait, let me know when you get back!

Hey Inquiring mind.... what specifically do you want me to check out? general quality?

You''ll forgive my partiality toward antiques, but I can make a general assessment on quality and pave work. Only thing is i have high standards. That''s what happens when you fall in love with old world craftsmanship. You are never the same again...

Yup, general quality. I have exacting standards myself.

Which is why I love your taste....

I am too detailed sometimes, so I will be myself.

What''s the itinerary? I''d like to go and hiss at Graff.

Harriet, which Graff didn''t you like? I found the people at the Graff boutique in Saks to be very friendly and helpful.

The uptown one. The people at Saks are fine, but I''m not sure how much they know.

Well. we can hiss at the uptown one and enjoy ourselves at the one in Saks. The jewelry department in Saks is quite a smorgasboard.

Let''s go to Bergdorf too. I hope Leviev will open by then.

Bergdorf''s is also great - I love the Kentshire boutique. And let''s not forget A La Vielle Russie.

What''s Kentshire? I''ve never been into the latter, although I eat next door a lot.

Ah. Is Shrubsole any good? I keep seeing their ads.

I'm not familiar with Shrubsole. We could always drop in on them, too.

S.J. Shrubsole is also a fine antique dealer who has an office in NY, 57th I think. I know they are based out of London, and just FYI, their summer catalogue which I recieved this week has some stunning pieces, including some vintage Tiffany, but I am in adoration of these coral and diamond drop earrings...

No picture!

The last time I was in La Vielle Russie I must say I was a tiny bit disappointed...very ready to buy, and did not see anything to my liking.

What do they sell?

They sell antiques, both jewelry and other items. A lot of it seemed victorian when I was there this spring, which is not my taste, it depends on what they have in. Some of the pieces were gorgeous but not my taste, and others were too busy and again not my taste. Sometimes they have incredible pieces, but I have been finding that if you want amazing vintage pieces, you need to connect with someone who gets the best stuff. You can always go to Christies and Sothebys too, but there sales tend to be large ones a few times a year and I am sure their fees are higher. I am not a big vintage buyer, while I admire it and even adore some of it, I worry about workmanship and how it will hold up, and so I tend to shy away. I think a store on a tourist filled street is fun to look in, but unless you really know what you are looking for and can tell that it is worth it, I would not likely buy from them.
