S.J. Shrubsole is also a fine antique dealer who has an office in NY, 57th I think. I know they are based out of London, and just FYI, their summer catalogue which I recieved this week has some stunning pieces, including some vintage Tiffany, but I am in adoration of these coral and diamond drop earrings...

Those earrings sound amazing!

The last time I was in La Vielle Russie I must say I was a tiny bit disappointed...very ready to buy, and did not see anything to my liking.
What do they sell?
A la Vieille Russie also sells Faberge (the Czarist Russian period ones). That is a long time specialty of theirs though they do sell a whole variety of old pieces. Very unique store.

Somehow I had the impression that they sell Faberge but the jewellery, which is why I''ve never ventured in.
Btw, you mentioned a trip to NY in the fall. When will that be?

Mid September. I am setting it up now. I''ll be in Manhattan for some weekdays and then in the country for a party on the weekend.

Who is up for either

Saturday 22nd September or Sunday 23rd (I presume shops are open on Sundays in NY??)?

Do we want to pick a time and place to meet?

I think I can make it on Saturday the 22nd. I'm not sure whether all of the shops are open on Sundays. A weekday might be better because all of the shops will be open.

Either one might work for me. On Sat, ALOT of the 47th street shops are closed for the Sabboth.

Weekday is fine for me too if it suits others better - I''m there till the 26th.

Good point re the Sabbath

Weekdays after 6pm generally are better than weekends. i often find myself outside of the concrete jungle as often as I can in the summer...

Although depending on group size, we may not be able to field trip to some places like A La Vieille Russie who are a bit more reserved and secure....
And in the diamond district it''s SATURDAYS that are the Shabbat, unlike Christian Sundays. So Saturdays may not be a good time for 47th Street shopping...

I just checked the calendar and I see that Yom Kippur begins at sundown on Sep. 21.

...and yet another hole in the plan...

Cooler weather is coming. Maybe it would be a better idea to wait for a good walking-around day.

I''m back in town and game.

Nicrez, would you like to meet earlier as well?

Harriet, I can make it tomorrow if you are game. Just let me know when to adjust my appointments and still be able to leave EARLY! Long weekends are so wonderful. They give you an excuse to slack off and run out of the office sooner without the withering looks...

Ooh, tomorrow would be great. Anytime works. Btw, I just received a 1924 Rolex that needs some TLC. I''ll bring it along.

Yay, Harriet! You and Nicerz will have the best time; I wish I could go w/you guys. hehe

Come then! ;)

Silly question. Nicrez how do you pronouce your name???

Nicrez, are we still on for tomorrow? If so what time?

Harriet, fabulous! I will rearrange some appointments all to the morning to make sure we have some browsing time uninterrupted. Actually, I know of a great watch repair guy. I haven''t seen him personally, but he was referred and we can show him. I want to speak with him anyway.

YAY!

Skippy it''s "nic-rez" as in "Nick" and "Rez" as in "reservations...

Aww, I''m sorry I''ll miss it.

Hopefully we can do it another time. Welcome back, Harriet - you have been missed.

Thanks, Madam Bijoux! I''m sure there will be other get-togethers. What about when Pandora is here?
