Hi all,

I am a newbie comparing two diamonds. #1 is a couple thousand more expensive, and I am trying to figure out why that is, even though #2 looks better when put through the Holloway Cut Advisor. Any thoughts?

Table 55.7%
Crown 34.9%
Pavillion 40.8%
Depth 61.6%

Hi gemster:

The HCA is a rejection tool, not a selection tool-so diamond 2 does not 'score better' on the HCA. Anything worth 2 is worth further consideration.

As far as why the WF diamond costs more-likely because it is in house, where the BN diamond is a virtual stone, and also because the WF diamond is a branded cut. In-house means that WF is holding the diamond, if you call them they can look at it and tell you if it is eye-clean or not, BN cannot provide this service. WF also has an upgrade policy, so that factors into pricing as well.

Cut adviser is a rejection tool not a selection tool. WF stone looks good, BN looks promising from the numbers but they will not be able to provide idealscope image.

Anyway, you are not comparing apples to apples here. If you compare the WF stone with the BN Signature Ideal, the price will favor WF.
