Hi,
I first want to thank you all because as a lurker here I think I was able to buy a diamond with much more knowledge than before, to have set into a setting I purchased at a jewelry mart.
Secondly this is my first post so I apologize in advance for breaking any PS rules. Feel free to gently notify me of breaking them.
I purchased a BGD signature hearts & arrows diamond. AGS certified which is inscribed on the diamond. I asked for BGD to have it appraised at the independent appraiser who does this for them. I wanted it done before the stone is shipped to me & also because my receipt for the setting did not grade the stones so I had the entire ring done for insurance. I mentioned to them that it is for insurance purposes. My appraisal mentions color & clarity the same as on the AGS report. It mentions the BG inscription & the AGS inscription. It mentions the value, which is more than I paid for the setting & the stone. It DOES NOT mention the AGS report or the cut. I contacted BGD & was told that the mention of the AGS inscription will cover me. I have nothing but great things to say about BGD & I'm sure they believe that it is adequate & maybe it is. Please tell me if it is & if that is the case why did I need an appraisal? Wouldn't the inscription, my certificate & my receipt be adequate for insurance?
Thanks,
L
