Hi all. After performing an extensive amount of research and countless hours of perusing on this forum, I've finally decided to ask for help in making one of the biggest purchases of my adult life, the diamond engagement ring. I'm looking for a RB diamond, 1.5 ct. or greater, excellent to ideal cut, I color or better, and eye clean. I planned on setting it into a Mark Morrell Classic Torchiere.

I've spent a lot of time using the Pricescope diamond search tool, as well as looking at stones from Brian Gavin, James Allen, Blue Nile, and White Flash. At this point I'm limited to about $10K (+/- $500) to spend on the diamond. It's important I hit the 1.5 ct mark (the bigger the better) and keep an excellent cut. I have also played with the HCA in regards to multiple stones that I have been considering.

Here is one from BN:

However, the clouds in the plot bother me as I'm afraid it will affect light performance. Comments? Concerns?

Thank you all so much for your input. I'm glad I finally took the plunge and joined the community!

The James Allen diamond looks nice and I know it's at 40x, but that feather under the table bothers me.

I've found a few other diamonds that are VS2 quality and have excellent HCA scores but their depths are a little steep (over 62.5 but under 63). I know 60-62 is ideal. Would a depth percentage around 62.8% be a deal-breaker?

Thank you!

If the HCA is under 2. I don't care about the depth as long as we aren't talking a visual impact to spread (.2mm). I'd get an idealscope image and confirm performance. If it has a good idealscope image, IMO you are set.
There will be other's that don't agree with me. But that's my personal feeling.

Yeah, I know what you mean about that inclusion... I'd have to look at it for myself, I think. However, I wouldn't write it off so quickly. And I agree with Gypsy on the depth.
