Hallo

I would really appreciate advice on attached images of 2 stones.

Image 1 is a 1 carat F SI1 inclusions but i am told it 100% eye clean. Inclusion are pinpoints / clouds / needles. Does not seem to have a bow tie. Ratio of 2:1.

Image 2 is a 0.87 carat D VS2. Clarity characteristics is a feather. Bow tie on a scale of 1-10 is a 2 (minimal). Ratio of 1.86.

Both are classed as very good cuts and have GIA certs.

I don't really mind one being slightly smaller over the other. I just wondered can anyone detect anything negative from the pictures. I was kindly told about light performance in a marquise by another forum member so thought that potentially getting a marquise with a better colour and clarity could be good.

I appreciate all help as I am very new to this and trying to purchase some sparkles for my fiancee.

Kind regards

I am by no means an expert and am new to pricescope myself, but I am a woman :) And I vote for the first one... I know that no one can tell the difference between D and F color, and my school of thought is I'd rather sacrifice color first, then clarity (within reason, and an F is definitely still in reason! :) I do notice the bow tie right away with the second one, eventhough it's minimal, and especially because it is pictured under the first picture...Cut and carat are the biggies to me but everyone is different!! As long as it's eye clean that's all I care about because I nor my friends are going to be studying it with a loupe, I'm going to want to see the sparkle, and the better cut will have the better sparkle... Good luck, and happy proposal to you! Just my opinion for you :)

It's very hard to go by these photos, especially with the darkness of the second. I take a lot of photos of diamonds and it is easy to eliminate bow ties and dark areas with light positioning. Would like to see what the grading reports look like especially for the SI1.
