Hi, I''m brand new to this forum and I apologize for what will most likely be a dumb question. I''m recently engaged, but have yet to get the ring because we really wanted to be educated about what we''re getting. I was browsing the internet for different rings, and came across this website. I know very little about wedding rings (cuts, style, grading, etc) and could really use some help from what appears to be a forum of experts :) I really don''t want to spend more than $1,000 for my ring, but I don''t want to have to use a magnifying glass to see it. I don''t need lots of flash, just something well made and beautiful. I would probably prefer either a square or round cut diamond, but am open to options (just no pear shaped with gold band). I am completely ignorant about all of this stuff, so I was just hoping for some direction or insight. Any helpful info is greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.

Hi bellaelyk! I''m new here to just been here since summer and I''m still learning about diamonds and settings and getting a real taste of what I really like. For $1000 you can get a gorgeous ering that you will very proud of. I do know myself when I do ever go to buy another diamond it will come from www.whiteflash.com one of the vendors listed here on this board. They have a large selection with all carat weights and a good color clarity range so you can get alot for your money. I hope that you find the ering that will melt your heart forever good luck,,, and some of the ladies that really know their stuff will be chiming in soon to give you more help. Welcome to PS!

Welcome to PS!

You said you like round and square shapes. The Round Brilliant (RB) cut will almost always appear larger than a square of the same weight. Ct is a measure of weight, not size. So a .50ct RB will be a better choice for you than a .50ct square, since you want the stone to look as large as it can.

Now go search the PS diamond search and play with color and clarity to see what you can get! I don''t know anything about RBs But, not all RB are equal, cut is most important, so run the stone by the RB experts here at PS and they''ll tell you what they think of the cut.

all three of those stones are gorgeous!

Agreed.

Also, I agree with Julie''s sentiment that you an experiment with color for your dime. Search down to D (though I''m not seeing any). This G is just 1/2 mm smaller than the round K she saw and I also lighted on, but if you''re sensitive to wanting a better color, it may be worth going for.
