Okay, remember White almost died on the 2nd night I had them? Turns out that she may have become mentally retarded from that incident or was already slightly that way and meant to die and became worst due to the fever and illness. So we will monitor her for a month, if she doesn''t get better; her eyes dont center and focus and she still walks round in circles, we''ll have to decide if we want to take care of a disabled cat for the rest of her life or put her to sleep.

Cream developed a bald patch on the top of his head and the vet said he has ring worm, so I have to start cleaning them with diluted iodine, applying anti-fungal cream and generally taking care that it doesnt spread. I also bought a box of gloves to protect myself from getting it.

Tiger (as MMM calls him) is the only one who relatively is healthiest though he was the smallest to begin with. *sigh*

These little ones have problems after problems!!!

O no!

Poor things! I''m sorry to hear all of this. At least you have done what you can!

Tomatoe - how are the kitties doing? And how are you holding up with all that work?

Here''s another pic of two of mine, they are in love with each other....it''s very cute.

It''s a kitty hug!

And here''s my first born. He''s not a fan of the other two, but boy does he love me.

BlueChica: They are okay, as okay as a mentally disabled and a ringworm infested one can be. LOL. I have edited down the videos but I still cannot send it through email, if you ladies have yahoo messenger, you might want to add me so I can send the files to you. sleek_leest[at]yahoodotcomdotsg

They are not as much trouble as when they first came to me, I let them run around outside of their box during feeding times and at other times too but they generally eat, pee, poo and sleep. We have also established a routine that makes it much easier to handle them. Hammie is really sweet though, he woke me up at 10am today mewing, wanting to be let into my room and check on them.

Also what age can I start to re-home them? They seem to be very needy and small for their age and I was worried about giving them away too early. I know a lady with 4 kittens, 1-2 weeks old that are bigger and heavier than my 3. Mine are now about 140-160gm only!!!

Hi Tomatoe,

I think you will have to wait a while longer, how old are they again? I got mine too early and they were 6 wks old. Vet told me that is should have been 8-12 weeks.

Keep up the good work and keep us posted!

They are about 1 mth plus already, maybe 6 weeks? Cream has really filled out nicely and if not for his silly ringworm problem (3 patches: 1 on head, 1 on right side of body and 1 on right hind leg!!), he''d be a handsome boy! He''s now 200gm, white is 180 and grey is about 160-170; I got them when they were all 100gm!! White also has a patch of ringworm on her underside near her chest. Mental disability wise, she seems to be improving; doesnt walk round in circles most of the time and can feed well. She previously had problems walking and feeding on the mushy canned food. She is still not normal when compared to her 2 brothers but at least there is some improvement, we shall just have to wait and see. My mum doesn''t want to put her to sleep and I told her to keep White for herself while I keep Cream (she doesnt really like him)!

I have found a video editing s/w bundled with my new pc and managed to get the size down to the smallest, its really low resolution and quality but at least I can email it to you guys. I still have Rockchick, MMM and Chrono''s email but if anyone else wants the vid''s pm me eh!

I have seen that! I would never ever be able to get that on my cat! It would be usefull since they both ruin the couch with their nails.

AWWW! I saw the videos! They really are so sweet. And you don''t realize how small they are until you see big boy kitty to compare!

I will say, though, even though it pains me, white doesn''t look so good. He just stands there and then walks in circle

He''s not very alert.

Oh, and for the "softpaws'' they don''t work. And not that you''re considering it..and not to lecture if you are b/c you''ve already done so much...but declawing is akin to amputation of your own fingers at the first knuckle. It is extraordinary painful. In fact, when I adopted my cats, I had to sign an agreement to never declaw. It can also really change a cats personality. I admit that my three cats are really doing a number on my wooden furniture (their back claws in fact) but that''s my problem, not theirs. I chose to take them into my house and now I have to live with it.

You should check out the Think Like a Cat message board at I Village moderated by behaviorist Pam Bennet Johnson. She can give you advice on when to put them up for adoption.

Tomatoe- do you have any no kill shelters where you are? They can tell you also. In fact, they may take them...

Tomatoe- I posted your question about when is it ok to adopt them out on my cat chat site....I''ll let you know what the experts have to say!

MMM,
Asian countries are really lousy places for pets. Many do not treat their pets well. I doubt there''s any shelter in the first place. Well, Singapore might be different since it is a more progressive and industrialized country.

Tomatoe,
I got the videos and wow, they are SO cute. I''m all over them. Thanks.

BC,
I love the kitty hug pics. Keep posting pics!

MMM, no way am I a supporter of declawing, I got very upset when clients brought in their cats for declawing those 5 mths when I was working at a vet as a receptionist. I was just curious about softpaws, my house is already scratched up bad by the 2 adult cats in the house, so it isin''t a big deal.

I KNEW it Tomatoe! I knew you were a 100% pet lover :)

My old Landlord tried the soft paws and they would fall off...

Do your kitties have scratching posts? Not that they work . I have found that my cats love a plain old brown box to claw at. I also got this stuff called sticky paws online...they are large strips of double sided tape...the cats go to scratch and they get grossed out..they will then associate that with scratching there...For wood, glass tops are great...my guys'' back claws scratch all my furniture...Also, tin foil helps too...they hate the sound and feel...

Speaking of which...I have been giving my Scotty oral antibiotic all week for his gum infection...Well, I KNEW it was going to happen...I KNEW it. I put him on the kitchen table...what an idiot I am...Well, his back claws DUG into my table. Huge chunks of wood...It is RUINED. WHAT an idiot I am. Also, nearly all my furniture has claw marks from them jumping. I really need to get those glass tops.

I will admit that in my anger sometimes I threaten them with declawing (yeah, like they understand me)....but I could never do it.

Oh yeah, and my cats love to scratch this small sisal area rug I have. I don''t mind b/c it''s not that nice...but I''ll def keep it around for them...why don''t you give that a try?

Mine prefers the couch over the sisal post although now she doesn''t mind the incline sisal rug type and leaves the couch alone for the most part.

Aren''t they annoying little suckers! Someone told me that the main reason cats go for the couch is that b/c it''s nice and tall..that regular scratching posts aren''t tall enough. Guess they like to get a good stretch. My one guy- Vinny is the main culpret...the other two like the rug...it''s so freakin funny to see the little one go crazy on that rug..sometimes I swear Vinny scratches the couch while looking at me and laughs to himself..."Worthless human" LOL

Hey Tomatoe- the first response on the board said 6 weeks is ok to adopt out.

LOL!!! If I wasn't a true blue crazy animal lover, I would never have rushed down that night from the west to the east of Spore to rescue these 3 (and we don't have a car!!!)! In case you didn't already know, that was on the night of the eve of the Lunar New Year so basically I had to tote them around or give up visiting altogether. Luckily for them and us, my CNY's are usually quiet affairs anyways with only a few main people/ houses to visit.

They are my lucky C(hinese) N(ew) Y(ear) kittens and I cannot bear to give them up though the 1st response you got was 6weeks.
face3.gif
They are just too "young" and "unhealthy" to me! I know a lady with 2 week old kittens that are heavier and bigger than mine, so I reckon these 3 were really lacking in enough healthy nutrition before me. The only one I can think of that can be re-homed is Cream, he's big and strong enough but he has his silly ringworm problem!!

As for buying scratching posts and what not, my family thinks its a waste of money
emotion-5.gif
and our furniture is already so crappy anyways, so they just have a ball with (most of) them. My mum's cat was actually trained to only scratch one particular item in the house before Hammie, but since he arrived and is so dumb, she has gone wild scratching everything and anything she can get her grubby paws on! *shrug* It's something we accept wholeheartedly since we chose to keep these cats and as long as they know not to scratch/ bite us, we're fine. Oh and I have brought home cardboard boxes for Hammie to scratch but he turned it into his bed instead! Go figure eh. So I finally bought a plastic basket from the local Japanese $2 shop and added some towels to make a permanent cosy bed for the poor dear.

Hi everyone,

I think that my pet qualifies in the "No Dogs Allowed" Category. I hope no one minds me posting her here. At my house, we think she''s really cute : )

I wish you well,

Bridget

Oh My God. That is the sweetest little baby I''ve ever seen! How the HECK did you end up with a pet skunk. Please tell me more!!!

We have ferrets and we went to a ferret meeting where they had arranged to get exotic pets and their handlers to come and talk about exotic pets, well they had 2 skunks at the show and showed what docile, wonderful creatures they are. Then we researched the heck out of what it takes to have a skunk and decided that we could handle it. One of the most critical things is that they are handled as much as possible when they are babies and I am lucky enough to work at a job where I can bring my pet to work, so that was amazing. (I''m a volunteer for the Florida Humane Society and we have foster kitties at work - we currently have a mom who had 6 babies three weeks ago, they are so chunky and cute!!) So we were at the exotic vet with a ferret and we saw an ad for a skunk free to good home, we followed up but the skunk had already found a good home, so we found an exotic petstore and paid a deposit and waited until the babies came and we picked Molly : ) Being active with the Humane Society, I''m always mindful of rescue over purchasing, but the way it turned out, it was much better, seeing that this is our first skunk. They are much more work than a cat, less work than a dog, but they are wonderful. There''s nothing like when she scritches the comforter, runs under it, pancakes out, then gives a big sigh of contentment : )

I wish you well,

Bridget
