This would fit my setting perfectly. And it's a savings of.. oh. 90%. Anyone seen one of these in person? Looks purty in the picture. I could get two at that price and have enough for a matching pendant.

Of course it wouldn't look like a canary diamond. Or an emerald. But Ed keeps neglecting to update me...not even a little note to say... I haven't found anything, still looking without solicitation from me... and I'm getting antsy. LOL.

Anyone have any 6x6mm square pretties they'd like to share? I'm open to suggestions.

90% savings from a spinel? Yikes - that''s some expensive spinel!

I''ve seen it in person.

You''ve seen the linked one above in person?

Yeah. I know it''s an expensive Zircon. It''s being custom cut for me. If it''s ever found. I special ordered a Lemon/ canary yellow (not gold) Zircon from Wildfishgems.com. I wanted a cut corner brilliant cut square 6mm Yellow Zircon. Believe me, I know that pre-cut this sucker would be MUCH LESS EXPENSIVE. But I want it to be super well cut so that it looks like a canary diamond.

Even though it''s special order and custom cut... IS 300 WAY THE HECK too much for this request? If so... as there has been customer service issues-- if Ed has not found the sucker yet... I may have to have a chat with him. Maybe not though. I REALLY want that Zircon.

Opinions? Advice?

Im confused, is it lost or something? Or can he not find the stone to cut?

(I am riogems so I have seen the stone)

If you''re interested in a zircon, you should take your time and hold out for one. $300 seems like a lot for one -- but if you factor in the time and the risk (ie re-cutting the stone ) maybe that is ok? And the most important question is if it is okay with you?

Zircon has quite a variable refractive index ( 1.77 - 1.98 ). The chrome diopside refractive index is (1.67 - 1.72). A diamond''s refractive index is 2.41. A sapphire''s RI is around 1.77.

The refractive index is basically a measure of how the light bends in the gem material.

You might want to consider looking for a canary yellow sapphire too?

Adam, that''s what I was thinking too... a yellow sapphire. You should be able to get a yellow sapphire that size for around $300 +/- a bit depending on the quality.

He didn''t have anything like what I wanted in (had a STUNNING round yellow zircon though)... and nothing rough that could cut up to those dimensions in the color I wanted. So he said he will hunt one up. I thought through other vendors... but apparently he''s in the wilds of somewhere actually talking to the miners and looking at what they are bringing up. Came as a shock to me.

I did think about sapphires. My birthstone is sapphire and I love them... but when I looked at them they seemed priced out of my price range when well cut, eye clean, and really yellow. Zircons were less expensive and... well pretty.

OKAY... well my eye has officially wandered and found this stunning beauty... out of my price range... but perfect.. okay so it's a HAIR too wide. But... it's BEAUTIFUL.

Honestly... do you think it's asking too much to have Ed email me when he says he will? Argh!!! Feeling VERY frustrated with him. I'm not asking for him to pull a Zircon out of thin air. But when he says he'll update me 'next week' I bloody well expect an update.

And this...

And Gene has a nice almost- chrome tourmaline... (gene dimensions on your beauties would greatly facilitate well... me.
