Ok, other than the financial aspect, is there any way to go wrong with a D/IF Hearts and Arrows in a larger stone, say 1.5 to 1.75.

Thanks,
Gigi-girl

If money is ABSOLUTELY NOT AN ISSUE, then I can't see what's wrong at all with a D/IF H&A stone (I assume you mean a GIA graded diamond). But that's only accepting the premise that money is not an object in the equation. I'd be sure there's no fluorescence, though.

And please (PLEASE!) if you get your hands on one of those, post pictures!

You have to get what you want to make you happy. It would not be for everyone because everyone has different priorities when purchasing diamonds. Get what you want. You are the one who has to wear it, and you don''t want to think that you settled on what you really wanted.

You don''t have to get that particular combo to have a great stone, but if it''s what YOU want, go for it.

This is like a continuation of the other thread going on now. I don''t see what is wrong with flouro in a D if the wearer likes it.

Aside from the financial aspect ... If that''s WRONG ... I don''t wanna be RIGHT!

I bet it will be a knock-out!

Darn financial aspects! They''re always ruining my fun!

Jazmine: That's a fair point. The original poster asked, aside from financial aspects, what could possibly be wrong with a 1.50 D/IF? I mentioned fluorescence because GENERALLY speaking, many people would consider fluorescence in a colorless diamond a detriment. If the original poster would prefer fluorescence, then of course by all means she should consider it a plus, and feel free to ignore my caveat. But if the OP is a novice, she should at least be aware that many people consider fluorescence to be in the "something wrong" category. If she decides she's not one of those people, more power to her!

Hi all,
Thank you for your quick replies. I did mean a GIA graded diamond and yes, I am a novice and therefore I did not think about fluorescence so thank you for bringing that up.

I think maybe you would need to go a little larger than 1.50 to say 1.54 or so, incase you get a small chip, as diamonds are prone to tiny nicks/chipping during everyday wear. Although the diamond would still keep its IF status if it was polished out (depending upon the chip and size and if no feather reached out from it) the diamond at 1.50 may lose say 1 point and become 1.49 carat and so lose a lot in value.

Maybe one of the experts could comment if that could be the case.

My diamond is a D with faint flourescence (my appraiser called it a strong faint). It shines a lovely light violet in sunlight. I love it. Personally, I wouldn't love strong or very strong in any color diamond, as it seems to interfer and be a bit distracting.
