Absolutely stunning ring, Missy. Love it. It looks so fab on you. I seriously cannot stop looking and oogling over your pics. Keep them coming. The faceting it has is phenomenal and fate brought her to you. So perfect.
Thank you for your continued prayers and thoughts all! I am so busy with the infectious disease dr appts, hyperbaric chamber treatments, and IV antibiotics at home. But I am doing better and feeling a little more hopeful that’s there’s an end in sight. I can do this....
You ladies rock and it warms my heart to have so many wonderful ladies pulling for me virtually. ((Hugs))
Off to hyperbaric chamber for two hours.
@Sandeek do you have osteomyelitis too? I have it and it has a nasty nasty bacteria called actinomyces and probably other stuff but I forgot to ask my surgeon today what my latest biopsies showed (I always forget and he obviously forgets).. I have read online that with osteomyelitis that some people do well in the hyperbaric chambers, and some people do have to go to the hospital for intravenous antibiotics.. I hope you don't have this horrid thing... it's a bitch to cure... takes years and can come back I read, like years later. I send you hugs and healing dust and good vibes Sandeek, aren't ID docs the weirdest? mostly they just say: hmmm, keep taking the medicine, see you in 2 weeks. Take care of yourself... and remember there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Peace.
Hi @Tekate , yes I have osteomyelitis of the mandible (jaw). It came from unnecessary dental work. I found out after the dental procedures that what I most likely had all along is a nerve disorder called trigeminal neuralgia.
I had to be admitted into the hospital for eleven days. IV antibiotics and then surgery. They had to remove my entire jaw bone on the bottom right side, replacing it with a titanium plate. I will need a bone graft in the winter to build it back up. It’s quite the shock, and so upsetting especially since I was chasing a diagnosis for three months prior. And dentists/oral surgeon kept trying to fix me and I know that’s how I ended up with this horrible infection, which btw they can’t identify because I had three days of IV treatments before the surgery which neutralized the bacteria so nothing grew out of the cultures. I have been administering at home IV antibiotics through a picc line for almost six weeks now and just finished my first week of hyperbaric chamber treatments. I go every day for six weeks for two hours a day. It’s been one helluva ride.
I have been following your journey and suspected you had similar problems, and hoped the debridment and oral antibiotics would work for you. Mine was too far gone.
Also my dr thinks I may be susceptible to this as he thinks my female family members might have osteosclerosis due to my history.
I am actually switching my ID dr this week from the city one to one closer to home since this will be a long road. I hope that works out for me. They are a strange bunch. Oh, be sure to take heavy duty probiotics. My mom had this also and too much antibiotics and she ended up with C-difficile which is a terrible imbalance of bacteria in the gut.
Please, if you would like to touch base off of here let me know and I’ll link a LT listing. Apparently it is very rare in the jaw. I was in a large hospital in NYC and they said they see one or two a year.
I hope I didn’t inundate anyone with too many gruesome details. It feels good to unload. And maybe rant! My husband calls me brave and lucky that it could’ve been worse, but I still just cannot believe this is where I ended up. I felt absolutely fine with the infection. Never missed a day of work, no fever nothing....
Please be well and thanks for reaching out.
Sorry for the threadjack!
@missy Your Bubbalah is breathtakingly gorgeous and so happy for you @Austina that you have Bea. Such fun to see your pics!
I do follow along here when I’m not running to drs/appts and getting ready to go back to work in a couple weeks.
You ladies really are a caring bunch!

GM girls!
@marcy sounds like your astronomy meeting was a success. Nice job. Glad you don’t often have insomnia issues like Marty and I do and Sweet on a good night’s sleep for you the other night. Now I know mine are at least in part due to adrenal stress. But fixing that is very challenging. Fingers crossed I can do it eventually. Has Marty looked into adrenal/thyroid issues as a potential sleep disruptor for him? Just a thought. Nice going on his 2 clients who are doing well. May word spread and bring him great business.
Have a lovely relaxing Sunday.
@canuk-gal oh my. So glad you’re back to your fighting weight. Haha I use that term too. Our fighting weights are almost exactly the same. Isn’t that funny and we both lost a similar amount of weight when dealing with health issues. So glad you’ve resolved yours. Long may that continue. How’s your mom doing? Keeping her in my thoughts and hoping rehab is going well.
@Tekate oh yes it’s hot hot hot here the past couple of days though today is raining and cool. No cycling sadly for us today but heading to my most favorite estate Jewelry place so I think it will be a lovely day. How are you feeling today? You and Sandeek have indeed been to hell and back and I know you’re on the right side of things but it’s such a long process. You’re doing amazingly well considering everything you’ve been through and continue to go through. Thinking of you and ((((Hugs))))
@Austina aww shucks thanks girlfriend. And right back at ya. And now with our “new”rings we are even less forgettable haha.
You wear Bella so well. She was made for you. Hugs to Dottie and glad she’s in a loving wonderful home with you and Colin. That goes a long way in overcoming a traumatic past.
You were asking about when my adrenal results would be back. Well the adrenal stress test came back so fast. 3 days. Delivered to my inbox at 3am Saturday morning. The lab said it would be up to 2 weeks. All I can think of is that since I was my own provider in ordering the test and the doctor gets it before the patient that is why I got it so fast. Anyway not unexpected results. Shows I’m in a stress pattern of low high low high adrenals. Not sure exactly how bad I am or how to treat as there’s quite the difference in opinion. Lovely @Matthews1127 is helping me and I am hopeful I can improve my issues so I can ultimately be able to take the thyroid meds I need. Because of my stressed adrenals I cannot tolerate any thyroid meds so my depleted thyroid levels are further exacerbated by my stressed adrenals and it’s a vicious cycle. More than you ever wanted to learn about adrenals and thyroid I am sure lol.
@Jimmianne wow I love that piece you created. Completely captures the chaos you were feeling. I feel it just looking at your beautiful sketch. Just wow. When you visit can you please do a sketch of Bubbalah and Joy? I would so love that.
@Sandeek how are you doing this weekend? Any plans today? Thinking of you. What you have endured is beyond comprehension but knowing you are making it through and will come out of this intact is everything and you and Kate are so freaking strong. You’re my heros. Strong brave wonderful women. XO.
Have a wonderful Sunday girls. @junebug17 Hope you’re enjoying the beach and beach house. Hugs. @LLJsmom hope work is going well and that you are feeling 100%. Love you girls. Enjoy.
@missy: the good news is that there is good treatment out there! I’ll keep you posted, as soon as I hear anything!!
Argh! There’s been an accident outside our house. We heard a huge bang and ran out to find our gates smashed up. Young kid in a souped up car, took the bend too fast, crashed in to a lady coming the other way, has totalled her car. Miraculously no one was hurt, but we’re going to be in for a boat load of aggravation getting it sorted. We can’t open the gates, so hopefully we can get someone out tomorrow to come and have a look at them. Sorry, not major in the big scheme of things, especially as the idiot was trying to blame the poor woman because she’s not English, her brake marks show she wasn’t on his side of the road as he’s claiming.
I called the Police as her car was blocking the road, and I suspected he was drunk or high, he was extremely agitated, they breathalysed him but he was within the limit.
We checked his insurance company, big surprise, it’s for people with motoring convictions, I won’t be surprised if he’s got speeding penalty points on his licence.
Sorry. Just needed to vent.
