I’m so sorry for the unbearable pain you’re both going through @missy , this is the part of having them that’s always the hardest to deal with. Just remember that no one could’ve given Francesca a better, more loving home, and even though her life was short, it was the best any kitty could’ve wanted.

We’ve been out most of the day, we were invited to visit one of the ships we have cruised on that’s recently had a major refurb. It looks beautiful, and we had a lovely lunch on board.

Callie, are you still feeling okay? I hope you doctor’s appointment went well. Thank you for trying to put a good spin on the changes for me at work. My boss stopped by my desk about 9 and asked if I was okay. He said I knew you were pretty sad yesterday. She’s like a bad penny; you can’t get rid of it. I am looking forward to my new employees; I like both of them and they just do their job and keep busy.

Missy, my heart is still breaking with you and for you and Greg. Big hugs. Perfect song; I find those songs that make me have a good cry help me; I hope they help you a bit too. I love seeing pictures of Francesca.
Ooh that is a good thought - get Marty so many clients it can replace my salary and say see you suckers while skipping all the way to my car.

Junebug, thank you for both Marty and me. I was originally in charge of my new department when they started a few years ago but the senior manager kind of took it over. He seems to like being the contact when it’s a project with a lot of senior management. Luckily there isn’t a lot of work for them to do and it’s similar to what my department does so the learning curve shouldn’t be too bad for me. I hope your dentist appointment went well. I totally chuckled at your comment about hoping you don’t get yelled at for not flossing right. That dental hygienist I had couldn’t have been more than 21 and was acting like I never brushed or flossed my teeth in the last 6 months. Youngsters, eh?

Hi Scandi! I hope you are doing well. I am sorry to hear your mom is sick. I hope she gets better soon.

AV, share some of your big news if you want. I hope things are unfolding for you as you hope. Retirement / more work. Rough call and decision there. That is precisely why my sister retired last year. They gave her more work, added new tasks so she said bye. Enjoy summer before it gets too hot.

Kate, Ever is gorgeous and huge! Do you love her? What did John say? You both look happy with that FedEx box. I am anxious to see more photos. Great dinosaur shot.

Austina, you are probably really busy getting ready for your trip. Marty should be in his gym by the beginning of July. He is ordering up his start up essentials. Sadly true - so near yet so far. Maybe I can nag at her enough she will quit. It’s just not in my nature to be nasty to someone though. Nice to have lunch on the refurbed ship.

I lifted after work and then Marty grilled us steaks and potatoes. I got out our last 2 pieces of cheesecake; what a delicious supper!

All you girls are way to nice and kind. My mother is OK for now, just that they discovered some water in her lungs, and they don't know why. And that might be not-so-good. Especially as she has had cancer before. So they are running every test in the book and then some. So lots of days waiting in hospitals for tests for her. And lots of days trying to work from home for me.

Last week we visited a large animal park. I'll try to post some pictures.

@Scandinavian I am going to be brutally honest. We are not doing well. Even Greg is breaking down. We love(d) that little girl so freaking much. Our hearts are in pieces and we are in so much pain. I cannot sleep even worse than before. I have been up every morning from 2:30 AM since Francesca left us. There is no peace for us. I just pray our little girl is at peace.

I’m picturing you running across the work parking lot to the Macan, seeing the the office in the rear view mirror with a big smile on your face, as you say “free at last” driving away to the meet your husband for dinner and a big glass of wine. Seriously, it sounds like this won’t be bad because you are getting some really nice new employees who are good workers.

@canuk-gal. It’s good to see you back here. I hope things are going well and am glad you have been able to get some cycling in. I’m really happy with the car. I honestly would rather car shop then have a kidney stone LOL. At least car shopping always ended with DH and I going out for lunch or dinner. There is a lot less fear involved with car shopping! I’m concerned because everyone says how awful kidney stones are. I keep thinking maybe this is something else because It has been no where near as painful as others have described.

The doctor said he would contact me in the next few days about the test results (bloodwork, X-ray and Ultrasound) and he wants to see me in two weeks. If the stone hasn’t passed by then or if the test results aren’t what he Is hoping for, he said I will need another CT scan and probably need surgery to remove the stone. He still wants me taking my temp 3 times a day and if I have a fever I’m supposed to go to the hospital immediately. The fun continues but thankfully I haven’t been in awful pain, just uncomfortable. Thank you to anyone who read this very boring update.

Have fun @junebug17 The Palazzo is a lovely hotel, and you can walk through to the Venetian and have a gondola ride. It’s quite a place and if you’re not a gambler, it might be worth checking out whether there are exhibitions at other hotels.

Sounds like you had a lovely meal too yesterday @marcy. We had a potato fritter with vodka lime cream and caviar, I ate the fritter, Colin had the other bits, lobster ravioli, followed by the most tender piece of filet with a Parmesan crisp, and vegetables and a light and fluffy dessert made from lady’s fingers.

My heart breaks for you and Greg @missy, it took us weeks after Harry died before we could think of him without crying.

They usually go to the Maryland house to see us because it’s an hour away as opposed to 2.5 hours. It was so much fun to see him checking out the house here. He had every pillow on the floor..sitting on them..What a mess he made...Boy did that bring back memories. When they left I had dried food all over the kitchen chair he sat in.. It was great..
@Austina Having lunch on the refurbished ship sounds like fun! Are they trying to get you to book a future cruise? When are you leaving on your trip?
I finally took out the boxes of oven cleaner you suggested to do my oven ...I started reading the instructions which said to use eye protection..was caustic...etc..I boxed it back up and put the racks in the sink with hot water and Dawn. I let them soak for six hours. They came out great after using the Brillo pad....I have a self cleaning oven but I still had to clean it out. I’m never making a steak or hamburger in there again. I don’t even want to use it now..I had been using my other oven...I’ll mail you the two boxes when you move to Austin. I bought two and I think they were forty dollars...My treat! I’m a klutz.. I imagined myself splashing it in my eye or on myself. I can’t be trusted to be careful.
@Callicake I hope you don’t need surgery..but I heard it’s not bad at all because they do it laparoscopically...I hope you just pass it easily. When do you find out the results of your tests? I’m going to check out the Macan to see if Bailey has room in the back. My daughter in law found a folding set of stairs that is lightweight...I was telling her I was having trouble finding a suv that had a low back so Bailey could jump in.
@marcy That would be great if Marty’s business does really well and you can retire...I got excited reading your post thinking Groucho was going to leave. What a letdown...Your dinner sounds delicious..

Callie, it sounds like Marty plans on trying to open his gym mid July now. They have quite a bit to do to finish cleaning the place up and redoing the floor, bathroom and ceiling. Thank you for wishing him much success. I like your vision of my last day of work - I might add “later suckers” after saying free at last. Ha ha. I think my new employees will be great. One of them is probably quitting soon. Her husband is stationed here at the base and could be transferred as soon as August or sometime next year.
Good luck with your test results and I hope you don’t need surgery. I hate to hear you are uncomfortable but am relieved you aren’t in a lot of pain.

Austina, your dinner sounds quite delicious. We both dined well. Tonight wasn’t as nice; I had a burger from Wendy’s.

Mamabean, I will try the soaking my racks in warm water and Dawn. I am with you on not using something that needs that much protection and comes with so many warnings. I remember thinking I could give myself a permanent one time. I bought one and the rollers, had everything out and ready to go then after reading the instructions I quickly realized who am I kidding? I’d probably ruin my hair, the sink and spill it on the floor. The Macan has different height air suspensions; I think it is 25 mm difference overall. I am pretty sure Bailey would fit with the back seat down. I am totally laughing at Groucho; that is pretty funny.

They had severe weather alerts out today so I had Marty take me to work. It was only raining when he picked me up. My sister stopped by tonight to visit with my niece who is up here visiting from Houston. It was nice to see them.

@junebug17 Are you going to Venice? Love that place. If so, you should consider a trip to Murano, where they make all the famous glass, fun to see. But avoid the touristy shops and head for the upstairs shops in the large factories if they are open.

Thank you @Mamabean and I am so sorry you know exactly how we are feeling. Both Greg and I are crying every day many times a day. It's amazing how our little girl got so deep into our hearts and became so much of our world. Right now the pain feels unbearable and we are missing her so terribly. Thank you dear @Austina. I am so sorry you went through such a loss. At times it's hard to want to continue on when missing our sweethearts who are gone. Right now I don't see a way to the light. Oh, there's also a bar here made of ice...I remember you staying in an ice hotel...dh and I will probably check it out at some point.

@Mamabean, aw, how nice you got to see Jackson! It's funny how being around little ones does bring back memories. Sorry you're having trouble finding a car that's the right height for Bailey...a lightweight step ladder might be a good solution.
