I can''t help but be VERY generous with my gifts to my bf. I love to buy presents for people and he really gets good stuff from me! Movado Watch, XM Radio with all the accessories, PlayStation 2 (grow up already) with all the games and gadgets, good stuff man!!! It''s isn''t cheap!

I think it is really easy to get caught up on gifts and how much people spend. It can definitely be turned into a money equating to love situation. When I think of being cheap I think of weaseling out of costs and trying to get the minimum to appease someone or a gift that involves very little thought on what the reciever would enjoy, even if it is expensive. For me a gift is a way to show how much you love and appreciate that person, and you show that through being in tune with their likes and dislikes.

For me, the enjoyment that the gift brings means more than the price tag, so yes, often I do spend more than he does, or more than my friends do on me. It doesn''t bother me, because we''re all in different financial situations. I love buying gifts for people, not only does it make them happy, but it makes me happy to do it! However, the bf has mentioned that sometimes he just wants to be the one that splurges on me, and how he can''t wait until the tables are turned (which will be sooner than later as I work in nonprofits and he''ll soon be a phd economist). I love what he gets me, he loves what I get him, we''re both happy

ps, Jennifer, that is an awesome gift! My bf, die hard Yankees fan, would die to be at that game!

I have a husband who buys himself what he wants and really needs nothing. He''s is not extravagant and will not wear jewelry.........wouldn''t even let me put an ACA into his wedding band. I did talk him into platinum. I did buy him a Tag watch for a wedding present but since then I haven''t bought anything of significant cost. I also don''t work so I''d be spending the money he earned.

With that said, the 42K corvette he bought was way more than my engagement ring cost. It''s supposedly "our" car but not practical for me to ever drive as I have a 6yo and another baby on the way.........we won''t fit.

l. He''s got about three favorites and there is something about a 427 something..I don''t know. I just remember watching a show once where he loved the car but he kept picking out all the non-original things about the car that I would never be able to figure out.

What to do? What to do?

he''s either talking about a 67-69 camaro or a 67-69 corvette those are 2 cars that came with a 427 CID engine but, becareful the classic muscle car market is a bubble getting ready to burst.an original car that he wants is rare and expensive, there''re lots of fakes out there.these cars were cheap 10 yrs ago.last yr i sold a 1970 camaro Z28 with 9,600 original miles for $29k,too cheap

today that car would bring $50k easily.

the most expensive gift that i received from my gf was a $425 s/s Rolex datejust watch (1977) for my 18 th birthday.

I asked him this morning and he said 67 Corvette (for the year he was born, lol) and he told me that you have to match up serial numbers and the like. He thought it was funny that I would even consider it knowing that I know absolutely nothing about them.

YIKES! $50K! That''s insane! H2b''s brother has a camaro, don''t know the year but I know its in the 60s, that he races at the drag strips. He has an
unbelievable blower in it. I think all total he''s got $70k into it. That''s psycho, lol. I''m not sure he could sell it for what he''s got into it. But he loves it.

I keep trying to read things on the classic cars to try and educate myself but I get so confused on everything. I guess it is best to let him pick it out.

My father would probably pass out if he knew I was illiterate about cars..I grew up around them so in his mind I should be a pro.

don''t do it !!! you might end up buying a FAKE with restamped serial #''s. what he wants is a matching # car the whole drive train must be original.. .. i.e engine, trans, rear end, etc, etc.don''t try to surprise him if you don''t know anything about classic cars, let him pick the car.

That''s not a problem there. I''m not even going to attempt it. I know enough to know that I don''t know anything at all and that I should leave that up to him. He knows what he''s looking at...it''s all Greek to me! Maybe it can be his engagement car
3.gif
He can pick it out and I''ll pay for it..much like we did with my ring.
