I also like the heart-shaped setting you linked to -- saw almost the same one today with a round tsav & it was TDF. I think you've put together a (virtual) very pretty ring -- don't give up! It's irresistable before you know it!

Do you have a time deadline? I ask because finding a good stone requires time and the budget. With your budget, you will not be able to buy a top red spinel, but if you have time, you can wait to see more stones and gain more confidence. Once you get more confidence, you will know when to pounce.

Why not get the orange red pear spinel with a yellow gold setting from LOGR? I am sure he can customize it for you without going over budget. It seems that she really likes it but you are the one hemming and hawing. Such a ring will be far more WOW than the chrysoberyl.

I think that's where I'm at with that spinel. I like it, but j just feel like there's something better out there. Like I don't wanna commit when I think there's a better guy out there lol.

I was giving up on this type of ring and have been searching for ruby and diamond line rings, as she likes the idea of those, or a stack.... BUT this seems like it could be put into a ring with the same feel, and be incorporated into a stack nicely. (See my terrible phone representation of what it would look like)

Of course it is round but she seems to like the square sides and square elements. She gave this a big thumbs up in theory.

I like the pear better, personally. A fair bit of brown in the round one, on my monitor anyhow. You have a little time to look around, Niel, but not a lot -- because you can't order a setting until you know what shape you're working with. The PS recommended vendors should be putting up new stones within the next couple of weeks & may have others not shown on their sites. I really don't think the pear is a bad choice for your budget, if you can't find one you like better. Remember, SHE'LL be wearing it -- and I gather she isn't a gem crazy like we are, so whatever you choose will make her happy.

I do agree with Chrono that yg would look much prettier than wg, but again, it depends on what the wearer likes.

I'm with JF on this one showing more brown than the pear on my monitor. This coloured stone is going to look better in YG too. I like the AD setting but seeing as it has a lot of diamond melees, the setting is going to be quite a bit more than the baguette setting you were considering.

They said they would do it in other metals, now to see if they can do it in yellow gold just for the head. A doubt it but here's to hoping.
