Hi!
First time poster, long time diamond enthusiast.

I’ve been looking for around a 3 ct OEC for a little while and have probably looked at hundreds. I’m familiar with Parks/Distinctive Gems. Parks OECs aren’t my favorites and Distinctive Gems is a bit out of budget for the size I want which is why I’m not going any further there.

My question is when looking at these, it’s really hard for me to tell from online 360s how they will reflect in person. I think I love the brighter OECs like top diamond -imgur link at bottom - (first video and second still are same diamond) but i’m afraid it won’t have much fire and look dead.

On others, I like the contrast that I believe would give more fire, but am afraid the stone will be dark or the center petals will all turn off at the same time (example is second video and second still which are same diamond).

Can anyone help explain to me what I should be looking for in 360s to get a bright and lively OEC? I compared ones I found with ones I liked at Distinctive Gems and it seems brighter is better, but I just don’t know.

Appreciate any help!

Will do - sorry for misplacing this one and I appreciate your help!

I'm not sure I can answer any of your questions. The first diamond has a gigantic culet and despite being white that's all my eyes can see.

The second diamond looks like it has more contrast which is more promising but would need more videos to assess.

Would the contrast/darkness not make the diamond appear pretty dark head on? Sadly I don’t have any other videos but was hoping to better understand what to look for in others when shopping around

Contrast creates the patterning. You want that. When the entire table is all reflecting light at the same time it’s bad. It means at some angles they will all go dark at the same time most likely. That first video is strategically avoiding that effect I’d wager.

Second video is much more promising. Shows a nice pattern of light and dark playing across the face.

Ideally what you're looking for is a pattern of facets turning on/off (contrast). What you don't want is all of them going dark at once.
