I got into trouble this year checking out the antique/estate event in my town. Here is my second purchase. Both diamonds are OECs. The ring is 1.06 carats, in 18k gold. The diamonds are lovely, well matched in color, but not terribly well matched in terms of cut. I still love it.

It looks gorgeous on your finger! Love it!

Oh my gosh the filigree work on the bottom of the basket is to die for!!!!!!!! :appl:  beautiful ring!

Really beautiful ring, and it looks amazing on your hand!!!

I LOVE twin stone rings!!

And yours look gorgeous!

I wouldn't let the non-matched faceting bug me - its part of their charm - just call the stones "Yin" and "Yang."

Wear in boundless happiness!

I have always been a fan of rings like this.
There is something so charming about them.
I love it, really great find! :appl: :appl: :appl:

I have the saddest of the sad news. :blackeye:

The twinstone I picked up yesterday is cracked in two places on the shank. They will definitely take it back, they will exchange it, or they will fix it.

If they fix it they have to build it up over the filigree because it is so delicate. SO I would lose some filigree on the shank. This isn't a huge deal, but they did say because it was so delicate it is definitely at risk for happening again.

Eventually it really may not be fixable and at that point I'd have to reset.

I honestly don't know what to do.

I would only keep it if they can restore it to it's original condition. There are people who can do that more than likely, but it is a matter of whether they can. The setting makes that ring, so I would not keep it unless it can be satisfactorily fixed. I am sorry because it is a very pretty ring!

I love these types of rings. Very pretty.

Oh no, sorry to hear that! :(sad My only concern is that you'll be unhappy with the appearance of the ring after they fix it - it's my understanding rehabbing these older settings takes some skill, and unfortunately I've seen some botched jobs here on PS. The fact that they're telling you some filigree will be lost is making me a little nervous. Any possibility of the option that they fix it, and then you can decide if you want to keep it?

yes, they have offered that.

Great! That's the route I would go then. Again, sorry about this, I can tell you're very bummed.

I am. The diamonds are lovely, but not exactly amazing in their cuts. The setting is beautiful, but not necessarily exquisite. However together they just....do something for me.

Thanks for hanging out along this journey! My only bummer is I think even after the fix, if they did a great job and I was really happy with it (they gave me a preview and I think it will be okay) I would still be really nervous to wear it. Most of my rings are substantial, and while I'm careful with them, I don't baby them.

Ah well. This, or something better!

there are two cracks and one complete separation. All on one side of the ring, opposing sides of the shank (if that makes sense.) So all three right now are on the "right" side of the ring, two closest to my hand, one closest to my fingers.
