Wanted to update this. My boyfriend bought the 1.82 cushion and it should be arriving tomorrow ! Excited to see it again and try it in some settings!

Well we went to try the diamond in some halo settings and I really didn't like the contrast :/ not sure what were going to do next

Oh! That is such a beautiful stone! Don't let it go! You can have a halo setting custom made with lower color stones in the setting and halo so you don't see so much contrast between the center stone and the diamonds in the setting. Lots of people have had that done around here and the result is fantastic. I don't have time to try to find one right now but hoping another reader will help find one for you so you can see.

One other option would be to have a rose gold halo or a yellow gold halo. This can play up the warmth in the center stone and can be lovely. Here's a gorgeous one:

I like LovingWarmDiamonds' idea! That would be beautiful (but I love lower colour/warm diamonds and the contrast with high colour melee...)

Is that the stone I posted a while back that faced up like a 2.5c and the price was around $6500??? It disappeared off JA site immediately after they first listed it.... before you could talk to your boyfriend about it. Looks like they might have been holding it for a walk in client. It is lovely and no wonder you love it. Can you post the specs? As I recall it was almost 8x 8mm. You got a great deal on an amazing cushion cut diamond...can't wait to see it set.

Thank you ladies for your suggestions and links! I have heard people wanting to use lower colored melee but read that it doesn't really matter because the diamonds are so small they just face up white. If I really could use lower colored melee so it would match that would be awesome.

As for the other halos - I've thought of using yellow gold but I'm not sure if playing up my stones color is the way I want to go. I think I would prefer it to look white.

Ariel- I think it is the same stone but not positive. It was on hold but then it wasn't so we scooped it up. I dont have all of the specs in front of me at the moment but the measurements are 7.6x7.5. It was $7100 before discounts.

So overall I am still undecided. Get a different diamond with a higher color and get the halo I've always wanted - but go way down in size. Or have a bigger diamond and possibly no halo because of the contrast. My brain hurts from thinking about it so much.

In my honest and humble opinion, I would go with the halo of your dreams and set this gorgeous stone in it. Play up the antiqueness of the stone and make it really stand out against the whiter melee. It makes it more intentional and special. You will always notice the specialness of YOUR stone and it will be set apart from all our friends and everyone elses because at the end of the day YOU and your fiance know the commitment that went into finding this special stone and each other. Again, my humble opinion and from experience
