I found a stone today while shopping in downtown chicago on jewelers row round diamond 1.55 ct dims 7.53*7.56*4.49 depth 59.5% table 61% girdle med faceted culet none polish ex symmetry ex color G clarity Si1 fluor none for 10,000 from PLATT boutique jewelry is this a good stone I need some help, thanks guys

oh and its GIA

Well, let me give you some basic guidelines for ideal cut first:

table: 54-57

depth: 60-62

crown angle: 34-35

pavilion angle: 40.6-41.0

girdle: thin, medium, slightly thick

polish and symmetry: very good or excellent (or ideal for AGS)

I wouldn''t turn down a stone with a 58% table right off the bat, but 61 would be beyond my cut off line. I''d say you can get a better cut stone than this one if you want to get a really well cut stone for your money.

you think i would be able to get a better cut stone this size for around 10,000???? and where??

Hi Fdaay

This is a link to a stone I linked you yesterday. 1.51 J VS2 ACA from Whiteflash. It is $10,883, but there would be a small discount if you wired them the money. It is a much much better cut stone than the one you posted about above.

I linked this stone to you yesterday as well. Slightly under 1.50 and bankwire price is 10,600. You can go to the pricescope your diamond at the top of the page and enter a range of sizes, colors and clarity.

The other thing you can do is call some of the vendors and tell them what your price range is and what you are looking for. They will tell you about stones they have or could get that will fit the bill.

I went to one of the ones you suggested last time, whiteflash?? is it??,, and I found this.....and I called for more info on it so zI''m waiting Report: AGS

10,933.00 the only thing is Im hestiant with the online ordering Im scared that they only look good with numbers but not so much in front of you :/

There are lots and lots of people here on PS that have ordered from Whiteflash. Do a search through the Show Me The Ring forum. Many people are anxious about buying a stone sight unseen but WF has a great return policy if you don''t like the stone for any reason. I think that once you talk to some of their sales associates your mind will also be put at ease.

Whiteflash is but one of the vendors here on PS. You will find many others as well. They have beautifully cut stones at very competitive prices. Just give them a call - they will help you find the right stone for you!

thanks so much for your advice hun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I did call whiteflash about the one I linked above so they said will try to get the info emailed to me here it is again......it sounds all good to me so far http://www.whiteflash.com/round/Round-cut-diamond-1852611.htm#
I purchased from Whiteflash and it was a great experience. I''m getting ready to buy my wedding band from them as well.

For the same money I''d look closer at the ACA I linked above. ACA is A Cut Above, Whiteflash''s branded cut of super ideal diamonds. You could be guaranteed that you are buying a great stone.

Have no worries about Whiteflash. If you stick to ACAs you really can''t go wrong. You also won''t go wrong if you call and let them know what you are looking for. I have experience with them and can''t recommend them enough!

This apparently is not an in-house stone at WF. Generally, the advantage to buying from them is that they cut their own stones and have excellent cut quality. When you do a search for their stones, you click on A Cut Above or Expert Selection. The stone should say "''round ideal cut."

This is actually the best ideal cut stone I am seeing close to $10,000 at the moment other than the J 1.5 stone at WF. I''d personally prefer the H color.

Ill try to search for just in house ones Ill check it out.........thank you guys this def helps and makes me feel more confident about whiteflash too

The stone from GOG is an excellent choice. Nice color, I''d take an H over a J, too.

So many people have had excellent service from Whiteflash and Good Old Gold. The stones are beautiful but the best part is there are experts who can look at the stone with you and describe it, talk about the inclusions and give you their opinion. The stones they carry in house already have a lot of photos and reference work for you to see and compare.

The whole internet thing seems scary at first but many of us have been to the stores and offices, met these people and made purchases both in person and over the internet.

lets say I or someone else were to get that ring that I mentioned when I first opened this topic does that mean because the stone does not fall in the ideal cut stone range with depth and table that the diamond is worth well not that much???......I guess what I am trying to ask is what is the worst part about buying a stone that is not in the ideal cut range numbers? is it the shine and sparkle that is dramatically different?? because I know people are buying imperfect cut diamonds all the time so many jewelers who sell them are still in business ....hmmm

I''ve found that the sparkle you get from an ideal cut completely outshines that of the sparkle from a poorly cut diamond. When I hold my ring up next to a friend''s ring there is no comparison - mine looks lighter and brighter.

Some people have come here, posted on PS, and then made a decision not to buy a super ideal. Of the "4 Cs", some people put size or color above cut. After seeing my ring I realized what all the hype was about and I know that for me cut is king.

Fdaay,
Hello fellow Chicagoan! Thought I would chime in since I just returned from Houston about an hour ago. We went specifically to Whiteflash and the stone that Erica linked you to initially (http://www.whiteflash.com/hearts_arrows/Whiteflash-ACA-cut-diamond-1466939.htm) was a contender and I can vouch that it was a stunner of a stone. For us, it was between that one and another slightly larger stone which I decided to go with purely because of size but we were very close to purchasing the ACA above. You won''t go wrong with it, it is beautiful and nice and white. I wish I took a pic!

I wish you took a picture!!! you guys are making me want to take a quik trip to houston !!! lol

Ya know with the money we saved on the stone, the money spent on the trip was well worth it. Really though, that stone is beautiful. Actually I suggested I should have "engagement earrings" so that I could get both!

We got this one - https://www.whiteflash.com/round_ideal_cut/Round-Ideal-Cut-cut-diamond-1204625.htm
Looking at the two next to each other they were both awesome but I could see a slight size difference and so that was the deciding factor for me. I can''t wait until the ring is finished!

If I was spending $10K and could squeeze in a trip to Houston I would definitely visit Whiteflash. Seeing is believing.

hey thats a nice one u picked!! see I am stubborn and would prefer the g color lol I guess I should start shopping for flights to houston soon lol !!!!! I have to admit this whole thing no matter what is still exciting ;)

I totally understand what you mean as far as color BUT when you are looking at stones cut like these they face up soo much whiter. I was looking at the two J''s next to this H - https://www.whiteflash.com/hearts_arrows/Whiteflash-ACA-cut-diamond-1848227.htm but did not see much difference, especially face up. But like yourself, we thought since this is our e-ring we would like to check a few stones out in person to compare color, etc. and so we flew in yesterday night and came back tonight. I''m definitely glad and now I am confident that I chose a stone I love.

I think I feel the same way you do about the whole e-ring thing. I think you chose a really nice stone at a decent price and congrats!!! ;) when you can show pics!!!

I sure will! It should be ready in about two weeks. We decided to take their knife edge pave setting but put the Legato head on it, so it will take a bit since we are mixing elements from two stock settings.
