I just spoke with him about the importance of having him, or at least my camera, this weekend. Heehee. He wasn't nearly as amused by that as I was.

The first look I had of my ring, with my eyes all wet with happy, "is this really, really, finally, finally happening??" tears, I was all caught in the moment and eagerness and eek!!! yayiness, and the first thought I had about the ring was, "wow, look at all the colors!" It's like it's my very own prism. I just adore that about it. And it's the J I fell in love with, and even though it's kind of corny, I love that it starts wtih my first initial. Paul cracked up when I first told him about that. He said, "only you would love a diamond because it can be correlated to your name, girl." Hmm. Well, I love it for that reason just the same. I had no idea they came in letters linked to colors for the longest, but once I learned, I thought, "ooh, J sounds nice to me!" And I do think it's a bit bigger than I expected, too. Something about it being .04 points bigger than what I was dreaming of seems like something HUGE to me. Heehee. Again, my nerdball side is showiing.

One thing I'm wondering about is the size. I can't decide if it's just right, too big, or too small. My fingers seem to vary in size at least three or four times a day. I'd gone to several places to be sized, and every store gave me a different size. Grr. I don't know if Paul ended up going with a 4, 4 1/4, or a 4 1/2. I think it's a 4 1/4, but I'm not sure. I don't like for it to spin, but I also don't like when it's all tight and makes my fingers look fat because skin puckers out on either side of the band. I think I just need to get more used to it.

I also really like the little tulip basket it sits in. Tulips are such happy flowers. And now I have such a happy ring. I love loving my boy, and I love the ring he spent so much time learning about. I couldn't appreciate anything more, knowing all the thought he put into it.

And I'm SO thankful to you all who helped him. He's told me he was close several times to just getting a solitaire from a local store, and while I'm sure I would have loved it, too, I just think it's *so* special that he got the help from you all to make something more personalized, although not quite custom, for me. When I get the pictures, I'm gonna post a message to Valeria, who first "made" the picture of what he'd showed me as the Waterlily. She deserves a HUGE thanks! We'd have never spent so much to get the "original" waterlily.

Yay!

Happy note: I've not banged it up against anything yet. Pretty good for me!!

I totally get why you like that the J diamond is the first letter of your name! I''m like that too. I like any song with my name in it... M teases me about that... sings them to me depending on what mood I''m in...

My favorite number is 12. I know that not everyone has a favorite number, but I seriously love the number 12! He proposed to me on 8/4/2006. I was so excited later when I realized that 8+4=12 and 2*0*0*6 = 12! Yeah, I''m a dork! I also liked when I realized our zipcode was a mathemetical equation... 2*12=24! (21224)

I thought about having us marry on a 12 but I''m having a hard time syncing that to a Saturday in September... oh well... at least I got the magical proposal date! :-)

Aww, that''s too cute, Sumbride!

When are you going to post pictures of rings you''re thinking of???

We''re going looking soon... M really wants us to go to the store that his friend went to... It''s a family jeweler, in business since the 40s, so I figure I''ll give them a look. It''s W.R. Chance in Annapolis, MD. They have a design guy, but only carry a few designers so there isn''t much on their website. I want to go NOW but their hours are really inconvenient so I''m hoping he''ll get an appointment on Saturday. He says we will definitely go by next Saturday but I want to go NOWWWWW!!!!! Ah, so maybe it''s good that we waited until we were already engaged...

The good thing is, the oval I covet most (besides Ephemery''s!!!) belongs to the wife of his friend who went to that store, so I imagine we can find a good stone. Just really hoping the prices are right so I don''t have to say "Honey, I know you wanted to buy it here, but I learned on Pricescope that...." I''m being positive, but yeah, I''ve been looking at price quotes all week, just so I have a ballpark range to look for.

Paul called, on his way. Says he FORGOT the camera, and he''s too far along to turn back now. I *think* I heard that he''s a big liar in his voice, though, because I''m pretty sure he was trying not to laugh.

He''s just loving this stuff he does to me.

BOYS!

Sumbride, is your name summer? I can''t think of another name that comes up in a song too often.

I think it''s cool that you do the same sort of analytical, silly stuff I do with regard to finding special meaning in all sorts of factors that relate to important events. It''s fun, huh?

congrats fishie!! i saw you got engaged but we were on vacation so i didn''t really have time to post....!!

no pictures yet?! WAH.

oh and can someone post the link for paul''s thread? i remember thinking i knew who he was but i wasn''t sure and now i''d love to read the thread!!! or post his name or something.

Mara! I''ve missed seeing you around here. Where did the whole working out thread go? *Not that I''ve done a THING this week to report on that''s positive in that area. I had cheez doodles for dinner. Bad, bad me.*

Hope you had a good vacation!!

Paul is Argh&Stuff. His thread started way before I thought it did, too. Crazy boy.

I''m HOPING to post pictures this weekend, if my camera''s on its way with my boy.

I *love* it so much, and really after the shock of it all sort of settled, I thought to myself, "Mara saw this diamond before me." And then I, because I sort of talk stream of consciously, told Paul. He looked at me like I was a crazy, and said, "Um, who''s Mara, Jen? I thought we''d been working with Jamie." Hee hee. He says I have a serious addiction to this forum, and I''m sure once he''s back online and sees all the posts I''ve made, he''ll be completely convinced.

And thanks for only calling me whacked out crazy once when I was in the midst of my most high strung moments. It could have been said daily, for weeks. Many, many weeks.

Yup, I''m Summer!

And it''s in so many songs!

Very cool on the analytical stuff, definitely! I''m in a logic-oriented profession so I always try to assign logic, meaning and symbolism to stuff.

Haha, Summer. I''m nothing if not logical, most of the time. I do love to think and analyze and create silly coincidences to things, though.

Still no boy here yet. No clue about the camera, either. Geesh.

My house is clean again, though. Yay! I hate how over a week''s time, there can be so much PUPPY and KITTY fluff found all over the floors. Yucky.

Jen -

We have 3 cats and 2 staircases... we have TUMBLEWEEDS of cat hair on both staircases... as they run up and down the hair falls out and then magnetically clings together and it''s like we''re complete slobs if we don''t vacuum every 2 days!!! Insane!!! If we had carpet instead of hardwood I imagine it wouldn''t be as noticeable, but no.... our only carpet in the living room is the wool rug that sheds. I HATE cleaning up after them, but I can''t pick one I''d get rid of!
2.gif

Hope he gets there soon!!!

Oh, we went to our little neighborhood bistro tonight and they wanted to know where we''d been! when we told them we were engaged, they gave us a free dessert and a round of drinks! YEA! (especially YEA since it was MY turn to pick up the check!)

Aww, how sweet that they know you there and wanted to congratulate you, too. Cuteness!

Yeah, I have hardwood floors, too, and a staircase. I know that tomorrow I''ll see the formation of little black puffs all over again. Joy, joy. Flip doesn''t mind being brushed, but she''s SHORT haired; most of the fluff is from BooBop, and she''s a cat who has her own ideas about the world, and there is no way a brush is going to spend much time on her back or belly. I do have one of those mitts that sort of catches hair, but she wises up to my motives pretty quickly, then she attacks the mitt and takes off for a hiding spot.

Still, I can''t imagine I''d ever say bye to, either. Insane us want to get another puppy OR kitty *not both* when we get married. We shall see. Fur babies are fun stuff!
