I just spoke with him about the importance of having him, or at least my camera, this weekend. Heehee. He wasn't nearly as amused by that as I was.
The first look I had of my ring, with my eyes all wet with happy, "is this really, really, finally, finally happening??" tears, I was all caught in the moment and eagerness and eek!!! yayiness, and the first thought I had about the ring was, "wow, look at all the colors!" It's like it's my very own prism. I just adore that about it. And it's the J I fell in love with, and even though it's kind of corny, I love that it starts wtih my first initial. Paul cracked up when I first told him about that. He said, "only you would love a diamond because it can be correlated to your name, girl." Hmm. Well, I love it for that reason just the same. I had no idea they came in letters linked to colors for the longest, but once I learned, I thought, "ooh, J sounds nice to me!" And I do think it's a bit bigger than I expected, too. Something about it being .04 points bigger than what I was dreaming of seems like something HUGE to me. Heehee. Again, my nerdball side is showiing.
One thing I'm wondering about is the size. I can't decide if it's just right, too big, or too small. My fingers seem to vary in size at least three or four times a day. I'd gone to several places to be sized, and every store gave me a different size. Grr. I don't know if Paul ended up going with a 4, 4 1/4, or a 4 1/2. I think it's a 4 1/4, but I'm not sure. I don't like for it to spin, but I also don't like when it's all tight and makes my fingers look fat because skin puckers out on either side of the band. I think I just need to get more used to it.
I also really like the little tulip basket it sits in. Tulips are such happy flowers. And now I have such a happy ring. I love loving my boy, and I love the ring he spent so much time learning about. I couldn't appreciate anything more, knowing all the thought he put into it.
And I'm SO thankful to you all who helped him. He's told me he was close several times to just getting a solitaire from a local store, and while I'm sure I would have loved it, too, I just think it's *so* special that he got the help from you all to make something more personalized, although not quite custom, for me. When I get the pictures, I'm gonna post a message to Valeria, who first "made" the picture of what he'd showed me as the Waterlily. She deserves a HUGE thanks! We'd have never spent so much to get the "original" waterlily.
Yay!
Happy note: I've not banged it up against anything yet. Pretty good for me!!
