So, I slept on it last night and I think I can't compromise on the size.

Question remains: do I go with M or hold out for another 9.4 mm M with the perfect faceting and smaller table of the O-P??? I am such a perfectionist! Grrrr!!!
Crack open a bottle of wine and I'll be right over to help you ponder this dilemma. I like to help where I can.... :halo: :praise: :saint:

That is a pretty sweet stone you have already... You just never know what may - or may NOT- surface in the future. But that's me, I'd take the "bird in the hand" now.... Good luck!

Yes, this is probably what I would do...you know Adam has a good trade up policy so if he ever gets a more perfect one in you can just trade up! But ofc only you know if you love this one...live with it for a bit more and see what your heart says.

Enerchi, maybe mimosas would be more appropriate for this time of day. :naughty: But, they don't match my diamonds as well. Seriously, the compromises we have to make for the sparklies!!!

Missy - you are right! I keep forgetting about the TRADE UP policy! I think part of my PBA (paralysis by analysis) comes from feeling like it is such a commitment. Thanks for reminding me. ;)

You're very welcome. Anything I can do to help because I know it can be a paralyzing decision. Ofc, not so much for me cause I just impulsively got mine the day I saw it lol. But in the back of my mind I knew if I decided it wasn't for me Adam would have let me change back. Now I've had it for a few months and I still love it...and the size is good even though a bit of DSS might have set in hahaha...seriously though I think this is it for me. SO excited for you valmanin! :appl:

And I second Enerchi on those compromises we make in order to have bling. OMG, we figured out yesterday that we probably both could have retired if it wasn't for all the bling. :cheeky: Maybe we are crazy but if I cannot have bling who wants to be sane!

Yes, gotta have the bling!!!

OMG I just love that bezel setting, always have (or at least from the first time I saw it). I don't know how many mm's it would add, maybe ask Chris at ERD?

Have you Made your decision yet? ;))

Heavily leaning towards the M. But, was kind of wondering about O-P in that setting...about how much size it would add. Just ballpark. If I do M I can't do a setting like that now.

Ha ha...just saw your little subliminal message. ;)

A delicate bezel adds a little less than a mm of visual size, at least going off of my earrings.

That said, just imagine how nice a TEN point four face-up size would be .... :D

Wow, I envy you your dilemma! They're all so pretty. Can't you just get a three stone? ;-)

I agree with Sara bear

Daddy bear 3.3

momma bear then 2.7

the baby bear in that order ........2.6

Go for the MMMMMMMMMMMMM yum

Does anyone know how much size (in mm I guess) a finely milgrained bezel would add?

Like this one?

I'm dying!!!! This setting in yellow gold is my dream! Oh I can't wait to see it!

If I were doing this ring now and had an unlimited budget, I'd probably Single Stone to do it with a more organic, Art Nouveau inspired basket. It would be so yummy. Whatever you decide will be divine!

SN Queen has some amazing bezeled pieces as well. I was there on Friday oogling them. Here's a pic of one that I saw, not the best (from their website) representation of the ring, but I think you can imagine how gorgeous it was.

I agree...would LOVE a SS ring like this. However, if I pick M than no SS for me or any other pricey setting. I would have OWD either do something similar to the above or an 8 prong type thing. I can't decide which I would like more. Big shock! I am indecisive!

Oooh! What is THAT??? I will be googling now!

Hi all! :wavey:

Update:

All three stones are going back today. Adam is holding the 3.33 M for me and continuing to look for another stone of similar specs. He doesn't have anything currently but something may come in...who knows.

In a nutshell, I felt like the 2.71 was perfect except the size. I kept wanting it to look bigger...stinker never cooperated. The 3.33 just doesn't have the faceting that makes me melt. It is gorgeous...but not perfect like 2.71. I kept staring at it and trying to convince myself it was perfect and I just always had that nagging part wondering why I was working so hard to convince myself it was perfect if it wasn't. Anyway, I never understood what mindclean meant until now. I think that is the issue with 3.33...I just want the smaller table and more even faceting across the whole stone so I dont' question all the time if it's a good performer.

I was starting to feel like ONE of these should be good enough for me and felt kind of embarrassed  that I am being so picky. Adam reminded me that my expectations are NOT out of whack...ie. I am willing to compromise on color (will go as low as O-P) and clarity (just want eye clean). I won't compromise on cut and size. So, there you have it. If I don't find anything else by June, when we are having our 10yr. vowel renewals, then 3.33 will be mine. If the perfect stone presents itself...even better!

Maybe it is because I really could not tell the difference between the OP and K (other than one looks like it has a smaller table), but my eye kept going to the 3.33. I don't think you can go wrong here. However, that is my vote!!

I think you will find something perfect by June :))

Are you going to be looking mostly through Adam, or everywhere?

Good for you for giving your perfect stone the opportunity to find you  I think it will too!

You, my friend, are a diamond camel. As am I. It's been one week, 4 days since SS started working on my setting and like, 2 years picking out the stone. Hang in there and good for you to be patient and get your heart's desire! ;))

You should be all loved with sparklies for a while after that weekend :twirl:

Good for you. When your perfect forever diamond comes up you'll be thrilled for life!

Gosh I hope so! :)

Well, I think it would be wise to not limit myself, however, I would be thrilled if Adam found THE ONE because he has been so great to work with.

I am going to look at an AVR this week too because I want to see what a "ideally" cut OEC looks like. :read: That may be the route I have to take since I am apparently VERY cut sensitive.

Thanks Yssie! I sure hope so. My husband and I are renewing our vows in June and I would like to have it for that!

I really had no idea I would be this picky, but apparently I am. But, oh help me if it takes me 2 years!!! Can't wait to see your SS masterpiece!
