Old european cut three stone ring by 23rd Street Jewelers

Re: Old european cut three stone ring by 23rd Street Jeweler

I absolutely LOVE those bands with this new ring.

Re: Old european cut three stone ring by 23rd Street Jeweler

I agree with your take on the stack, TGal, looks better with the thinner one in the middle!

I like a RHR on the middle finger, if I wear one. It seems less "in the way" But really I prefer left hand big bling.

Re: Old european cut three stone ring by 23rd Street Jeweler

The new pics are totally gorgeous. Definitely one of my faves on PS.

Re: RH Bling...

I feel comfortable wearing this set on my RH also partially because my wedding set is so understated. I don't think I could rock a honker on my left and this on the right. Or maybe I could.

Re: Old european cut three stone ring by 23rd Street Jeweler

Wow, just wow! Thanks for sharing the story and all your research that went into this incredible ring!

Re: Old european cut three stone ring by 23rd Street Jeweler

My little girls hanging out with a friend. Photo doesn't do it justice, especially since it was suffering from 3 days in the sun (and sunscreen) by that point. This stone is A.Mazing.

(I tried to run, but that b*tch's legs are much longer than mine...)

Yup. We were in Palm Springs (hence the horrible finger swelling in 100 degree heat). I had to go and see the rock, I mean, er, her. The faceting pattern is to die for. Plus she's not all that bad to have a chat with either. ::)

And, in typical Mara fashion, she's trying to enable me to rock a big rock!

Re: Old european cut three stone ring by 23rd Street Jeweler

Oh, and here's one of just her ring alone. I LURVE it. My poor 3 stone were neglected as I drooled. :lickout:

*sigh* It really is a good thing that OWD has a great upgrade policy. ;)) I will remain on PS to see the day when you get something on your finger that you think is embarrassingly huge. It may take 30 years and several burly men to lift the rock onto your finger, but derned it, I will live to see the day!!!!

Re: Old european cut three stone ring by 23rd Street Jeweler

OK, wasn't going to post any more pics, but Mara took these (that's her thumb, lol) under an awesome canopy in Palm Springs, so I'm adding them. I didn't even know she took them. Thanks Mara!

TGal, the new shots are fantastic! Your three stone is amazing

If you don't mind me asking, where did you get the bottom stacker, the one closest to the base of your finger? It is so beautiful!

Re: Old european cut three stone ring by 23rd Street Jeweler

Wow, I'm loving the new shots!! Your 3 stone is incredibly photogenic!

Re: Old european cut three stone ring by 23rd Street Jeweler

Thanks Laila and armywife!

About to head off to bed, but wanted to answer your question armywife. The band I bought from ebay for a fraction of the retail cost. It was touted as vintage, but I didn't believe it was. In my search for stackers for others, I came across the origins of the ring. A vendor called Orospot makes it. They have their own site and an etsy shop.

I'm very happy with it. The diamonds are all white, sparkly and even. The craftmanship is fine, but not even, but that could have also been from wear (the previous owner could have mashed up the milgrain/shapes, etc.) The retail is $1199.

Thanks for the info TGal!! Their website has some interesting stacker options.

Re: Old european cut three stone ring by 23rd Street Jeweler

beautiful!!.. OEC with small table + high crown = FIRE :!: ... :appl:

Re: Old european cut three stone ring by 23rd Street Jeweler

Yup DF, the fire is lovely off this beauty.

Well, I had some studs (the ERD ones I won) that I've wanted to reset for a long time so I priced it with etsy vendors. Adzia, Sally and Daniel M. Daniel M was the cheapest by $$$. However, I didn't think to ask 23rd street before this (I priced this out more than a month ago) and asked 23rd street today. They were only $20 more than my Daniel M quote.

Thought I'd mention this, as I've always thought (and their rep on PS was) that they were insanely priced. So looks like I may have another (much smaller) project with them. :appl:

Re: Old european cut three stone ring by 23rd Street Jeweler

Well, thought I'd add in the final note as I finally got the ring appraised from Patrick Davis, who is really just awesome and so kind. He had seen the brooch before, but we spent way more time on my Amelia ring and the brooch was just given the basic stat check.

He said the ring was wonderfully made, no porosity issues, and was indeed handmade and hand engraved. Everything symmetrical and high quality.

The stones he said all were early european (even the one I call a tranny). He also said they (all three) were very well cut (and we all know that with OECs, that's not always the case). The ASET images showed a lot of red, with nice dispersion of blue and a bit of green and not a lot of leakage. Masterfully so, for the time. Now, I am no expert, but when I first got these tones, I just thought "wow, pretty." Turns out my eye's not too bad. :rodent:

He said the brooch was nice, but if you are going to take apart an antique piece, this is the way to do it. His words for the overall project/ring was "Very well done!"

It all turned out well - so thanks again to everyone who helped. I'm glad I just went with with my gut and eyes!

Oh, and Patrick also spent time talking to me about the business and gave me some insight...he's really a cool guy. :appl:

Re: Old european cut three stone ring by 23rd Street Jeweler

btw, he knew who made my ring - didn't tell me but almost did by mistake. The jeweler is high end designer who 23rd street uses and has an exclusive contract with them. But the designer also does things for themselves too, so I wonder what the prices would have been like direct!

Joni did say that while 23rd and Singlestone use some of the same bench, that the one who did my ring wasn't shared between them, so Patrick's info does seem to support that.

Re: Old european cut three stone ring by 23rd Street Jeweler

Extremely late to congratulate you on this gorgeous ring, but WOW it's really stunning. You have wonderful taste! I hope you love it for many more years to come!
