Old Lady Hands..

Awww - thanks, Jimmianne! I've always been self-conscious about my hands here, since they're chubby little things! I think that's why they don't have a lot of wrinkles - but that's a double-edged sword if there ever was one! But they really do remind me of my mother, so I love them for the memory. :)

Double post - sorry!

I think your hands look lovely. Mine remind me of my mother's as well with my dad's crooked little fingers.

I'm 49 and I love this thread. My hands are old, wrinkled and age spotted. They're also hairy and if you think they're bad, you should see my chin.

This is how I normally wear my wedding set. The e-ring is an OEC set in a LAD "lily" setting. The eternity is an "angel" also by LAD (from when they were JbEG - that's how old I am). The wedding band is "Grace" from BGD.

Do you have a thread on these with more photos?!!!

I do, it's here: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/my-1-65-ct-oec-lily-from-jbeg.195868/

My rings are actually AW and I post them in every thread I can.

I love your BGD re-set. There's nothing as classic and pretty as a solitaire and the proportions of yours are perfect!

Thank you!!! I am extremely happy with it. It doesn't get to see sunlight much, I don't wear my jewelry often, but the days that I do, I just love seeing it. SO dainty. Makes my stone look nice and juicy.

And thank you for that thread. I LOVE your set. That is so beautiful!!! I have no idea how I missed that.

Thanks! I look at everyone else's sets and they're all so creative and lovely.

I'm sorry, I didn't see any old lady hands... I was too busy drooling over some serious bling!! haha! I am with you ladies... I'm half Irish, half Italian... unfortunately, I inherited my dad's Irish alligator skin... my mom's hands were soft and wrinkle free until the day she passed. I guess sometimes we can't have it all. I'm just fine w/ my wrinkly skin and my yummy diamonds though!

My 55 year old lady hands.

I love my hands - they look exactly like my mother's. She died many years ago, so this is the memory of her that I have. I hope my hands can achieve half of what hers did.

Very sweet! Wonderful comment! I feel like I need to hashtag #bestcommentever (I dont hashtag normally). This is worthy ;) . Your mother must have been a great woman! Pretty cool how we see ourselves in our parents and/or children. <3

My hands look like my mother's as well. I have thought that recently now that my age is showing in my hands. Lots of veins. :) Blue. I need a pink diamond to counteract the blue. ;)

Thanks, cinnamonstick - she was an amazing woman and a real pistol. It was a fun way to grow up. :) Every Saturday, I'd go climb into bed with her and we'd chat. I'd hold her hand and play with her rings, hold it up to the light, look at her finger nails and so on and so on while we talked. I have the clearest memories of this. I had no idea that there would come a time when I would look at my own hands and see my genetic heritage. Kinda cool, really. :)

It's been a while since I've posted anything, but I'll give it a whirl. Four decades and four children later, here is my hand along with the bands I normally swap around, and two NT sapphires for future projects :lickout: The large band is 10mm. Whiteflash setting.

Cool - a chance to show off my four rings! Here's my old lady hands wearing a pear with halo, that is very special to me because of the bezel. The only design I've seen like this is Ritani's Endless Love. To get that design plus loose certed diamond was much more than I wanted to pay for this right-hand ring, and then one day I saw this ready-to-wear ring in a local jeweler and just fell completely in love. It's such a wonderful look for what I paid. 18k white gold, color is I and clarity is I1 but with white inclusions. Cut is really good I think - it sparkles. Carat weight - about 0.70 altogether I think? I'm not entirely sure if the center is 0.70 plus halo, or if the 0.70 included the halo. Anyway, enjoy young beautiful ring with old lady hands!

diamondrnglover, what size are the diamonds in your lovely ring? I saw a lady wearing a ring of about this size the other day and thought it was lovely, as is yours. :wavey:

Ha, now these are some really, really old hands!

Lovely jewelry, all, Catmon! :appl: You have the best pieces. I can't decide which I like the most! Man, that sapphire ring of yours puts Princess Katie's in the shade!

Here are some more shots of my old-lady hands! Bless the Old-Lady-Hands poster for giving me the opportunity to show off my rings again!

Blue sapphire and diamond new (as opposed to vintage, but vintage-look) Art Deco-style ring from Armadani with French-cut sapphire sides
pink sapphire approx 1.10carats I think, surrounded by 1 carat of G diamonds
blue aquamarine and diamond bow ring
diamond bezel halo ring as before

All 18K gold.

Aww thanks Jambalaya! Love you rings too!

59 year old hands

CBI diamond (getting arthritis in my pinky which is bad because that finger controls 4 different keys on the flute)

To a fellow pear lover, thank you Jambalaya.
Your rings are very lovely as well, I especially like your
sapphires and diamonds. The sapphires have a very
nice hue, tone, and saturation.

I love this thread so much that I thought I would contribute my old lady hands. I am wearing a rose cut diamond that I had mounted in an old white gold setting that I found while cleaning out a drawer in an old sewing machine that I inherited! When I found the setting, I took it into joe Escobar. They just happened to have an old rose cut diamond that fit perfectly. They had to modify the mounting a little but it worked!

Thanks Ame.
Both diamonds are F-SI1s (my sweet spot although I also have a 1.50 F-VS1 marquise that I don't wear anymore).

And yes, when we go for walks on overcast days, I look at both diamonds side by side, and the CBI does face up whiter than my pear. I would not have believed it until I saw it with my own eyes (that scored 100% on the Munsell color/hue test. Hubby missed about 40 of them but is not colorblind ).
