As the time is nearing for my new setting to come in for my new 2.45 ct RB, I've been getting more and more sentimental about my original 1 ct RB that my DH proposed to me with. The plan originally was to trade it in and put the money towards the setting. But the diamond prices higher now than they were 11 years ago when we purchased it, it's worth more than we paid for it and yet we wouldn't get much for it at the tradein. So... I talked to hubby... he said of course keep it if you want. :appl: :appl: :appl:

I am so excited. Now... what should I do with it? Pendant or a RHR?

Yah!! :appl: I'm so happy for you! I vote pendant!

Pendant!

pendant!!!

pendent! its going to feel self conscious next to your new e- ring, but around your neck its going to look huge and beautiful and not be compared to your new rock.

Oh I am so happy for you, that's great! :appl: I would go with a pendant, I usually don't wear a rhr because I want my wedding set to get all the attention lol. Lot's of people do wear rhrs though, so it's up to you. I think that size stone is perfect for a pendant though!

WOO HOO!!! That's a complete and total bonus!! YIPPEE for you and a super big hug and SQUEEEEEEEEZE for your DH for not doing the trade in on it!! :appl: :appl: :appl:

PENDANT!! Something ... oh... Barbara - ish, from BGD?? Just sayin'... :Up_to_something:

Great! :appl: I also kept mine. I do recommend a small halo or something on a pendant because I think proportionally it will be better with your new e-ring. I am resetting my diamond from the Barbara pendant because it just looks a little small to me.

The only problem with a pendant is I am probably not going to wear it all that much. I go to the gym and shower there, I'd be worried to lose it. And I just know it will probably sit in my jewelry box most of the time. But a RHR I will never take off.

What about a 3 stone RHR? Something like Vatche 3 stone swan?

I vote for the 3 stone right hand ring! Beautiful and sentimental and add a halo

I suggest you get another matching diamond to make studs.

I wish I used my old ER diamond for studs. When I first considered getting studs, I could not justify the cost of a matching 1.0ct F VVS2 (or similar) diamond for studs. (I thought F VSS2 was too high for earrings.) Instead, I got a pair of 1.44ctw diamond studs (E Si1). Not too long ago, DSS got to me, so I was thinking about getting a larger carat pair. Since 2cwt is not much larger than 1.44cwt, I ended up with something even larger. Now, I have two pairs of studs. If I started out getting a 1.0ct diamond for a 2 ctw studs, I would have only one pair of studs and still be content. The only difference is that I save more money.

You shouldn't wear any jewelry especially rings to the gym!! You'll damage the band if you handle bars and equipment. Be careful.

Oh, if you don't think you'll wear a pendant but you know you'll wear a rhr, go for it then! I think a 3 stone sounds lovely.

Also a vote for a pendant!!

I vote for the pendant. I had my 1.08 diamond that was from my late husband reset to a bezel look sliding pendant. It is on a strong wheat chain and I pretty much wear it 24/7 only taking it off to clean.

I wish I could get another one for the studs, but having spent 20K on a new stone I don't think it's in the budget right now. Of course the 3 stone will cost some money as well... So a pendant may be the more economical option for right now.
Well, I have time to think I suppose.

I love the pendant idea. Since it is so special to you, it'll always be around your neck, close to your heart.

I vote pendant.

Ohh, those are pretty, Rosebloom!

I am worried about losing the pendant :(. Like the chain snapping off or my children pulling it off or something. Am I the only one worried about that?
At least I know a ring is not going anywhere.

It's funny, I'm probably more likely to loose a ring. My finger size changes significantly from summer to winter so in come months my rings practically slip off. But my daily wear necklace feels quite secure to me (even with my baby yanking on it constantly!). But if you felt like it was not secure, then you'd enjoy it much less.

You could maybe do a three stone with colored gem sides to keep the cost down a smidge. Maybe one of these gorgeous blue sapphire pairs?

I wouldn't worry about a pendant. As long as it has a good lobster clasp and all the jump rings are sodered(sp) it should be fine. Like I said, I have a wheat chain that's very solid.

Ohhh, lucky girl! I vote pendant too.

I see your point about security of a little tiny chain around your neck vs. a nice sturdy ring on the finger. I've thought the same thing myself. But, NonieMarie has a good point. With a great clasp and a solid chain, it should be fine. And the Beverly K pendant that Rosebloom suggested is gorgeous.

For me, I would choose to put it in a pendant. But it sounds like it may cause you more stress than happiness, so perhaps turn it into a RHR with two flanking colored stones.

I am happy that for sentimental reasons you can keep your original diamond. That's a special piece of jewelry. :))

Yay!!! :appl: :appl: :appl:
So happy for you!! Take your time in deciding what you want to do with it- I am sure whatever you decide it will be a very special piece of jewelry for you!!

What great news! I also vote pendant :))

Keep it as a sidey in your three-stone to come!

I vote for right-hand ring. I just reset my original diamond that DH proposed to me with in an antique replica Art Deco setting and I love it! It's in a halo setting which gives me amazing finger coverage and I just can't stop staring at it! (I am more of a ring person myself.)
