OMG, I get to keep my original ER!!!!! So happy!!!

I vote for a pendant. I had my original ER put into a pendant with a bevel edge and pave stones around it and it is gorgeous! It is a 1.23 pear. On a good chain, no worries, it will be sturdy.

Thanks everyone!
I am glad to know you think a pendant is pretty secure. I am just having nightmares about what my friend just went through. She was at a convenience store downtown with a girlfriend. Not even a bad part of town or anything. In comes a young girl, well dressed, clean, normal-looking. Suddenly she comes from behind and yanks the chain off my friend's neck (with a diamond pendant on it) and runs away. They called the police but nothing came of it, no security camera footage, nobody had a good look at the thief... nothing. That story just really scared me, although I know things like that probably don't happen every day.

Rosebud, ohh, those are so pretty! I know nothing about sapphires, maybe it's time to learn ;)

Don't think like that! You will have your necklace insured first of all. Secondly, those things don't happen everyday. I think it is safer to wear your jewelry then have it at home where someone could break in! Positive thoughts only... C

When my father was dying I spent a lot of time out of state. All I wore was a pair of gold hoops, my Omega watch and a small diamond pendant. I locked everything else in my safe. Someone came into my house and stole the safe!!!  It weighed over 100lbs!

I'm sorry to hear that. That's why I think the safest place for jewelry is on the person, or in a safe deposit box. I know it's a pain to keep going to the bank, but where can you keep jewelry safely in your home? Big problem.
