EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! OK, I just HAD to get that out of my system first! It happened this afternoon around 4:30 and it was a TOTAL surprise! It had been a rather emotional day b/c I knew it wouldn''t happen yesterday, but we went out and had a great time last night anway, and this morning I was sad that he didn''t have a surprise to wake me up with. (we had discussed the party at his family''s house that was this evening and he knew how I felt about going without being engaged) We went out for breakfast after he FINALLY got out of bed and then went to pick up the boys. We took them to the park and when we came home I just wanted to lay down for a minute. He layed down with me and cuddled for a while and then turned me around and told me he wanted to go to Hot Springs in 2 weeks and was planning on doing it then. It made me sad and I couldn''t help but wonder why we couldn''t have gone THIS weekend. I just nodded my head and decided to go outside and work on a sudoku (my FAVORITE puzzles, butalso my favorite way to get my mind out of stuff) and I told him I wanted to be alone for a minute. Everything had been really sweet since we''d gotten home and I just wanted to compose myself. He came outside a few minutes later and just watched me for a while. Then I told him I felt so bad that I hurt about this at all. He bent down in front of me and told me he loved me and I told him "I Love you too, baby" and then he said he was sorry. Well, hearing him say that made me tear up a bit again (I thought it was great that he apologized for ME feeling badly even though it wasn''t really his fault -- he just doesn''t usually say he''s sorry too much anyway). I told him I just didn''t want to think for a few minutes and went back to working my sudoku. Then he tells me (standing up in front of me at this point) that he loves me (again!) and then says "and I DO want to spend the rest of my life with you" Well, I''m still thinking we are in conversation mode and I''m like " I know you do, I just hoped it would start sooner" and then he says "It CAN start sooner." So now he has my full attention and I''m like "huh??" and he starts to slide the ring on my finger (didn''t see this as I was looking up at him the whole time) and he asks "will you marry me?"
Well, I''m still in "huh?" mode -- kind of dumbfounded at this point and he adds "for real." And I just smiled (you''ve never seen anyone go from tears to smiles so fast!) and I stand up and hug and kiss him and we just hold each other for what seemed like SO long and I finally remembered to say yes!
He told me that he''d been waiting all day for me to go work on a puzzle (he knows how I am about associating things and it being something I''d do again and again) and each time I''d been outside today I was reading a magazine... then he told me he didn''t plan on doing it in Hot Springs, but figured we could have that weekend to celebrate
I remember a long time ago him saying that I wouldn''t be all dressed up when he proposed, and I thought how is that possible? Every time we''ve left the house together for anything lately I''ve been trying to look quite nice (even the gym!) so I thought I had that covered. Well, he was right --- I''d changed into sweats and a t-shirt when we got home from the park!
Tonight was the birthday party with his family, so we got to go celebrate IMMEDIATELY and that was just the most fun at a family get-together I''ve ever had!!!!
I took pictures and I am on my crappy laptop, so I may not be able to get them up tonight, but hopefully will by tomorrow!
Oh yeah, the ring is GORGEOUS!!!! I just never dreamed I''d own anything this big and beautiful, but it''s funny because I didn''t look at the ring when he was proposing and it wasn''t until well after hugging and kissing that I actually looked and it about knocked me down! The best compliment came from his uncle who looked at it, congratulated us and then said how much it sparkles -- "that is a *really* well cut diamond"!
