We just had to say that! The year has flown by so very, very fast and we can''t believe that it''s already November! We haven''t started any of our Christmas shopping yet and we''re completely devoid of ideas for all the people in our lives who have everything, so perhaps it would be fun to toss around Christmas Ideas here on Price Scope for all of us who are "stuck"...

I know I will be getting some Chanukah gifts from www.goodygoodyshoes.com

Also a unique gift idea for the person who has everything. Almost all of the states in the US will fly a flag over their capital in honor of an occasion or in memory of a person. It is not very expensive and they send the flag to the person on your behalf after it has been flown. We did this in memory of a guy my husband worked with and then the flag was sent to his family.

It would make a unique present for someone who has a birthday. Not sure about Christmas, but they might do it. Just call your state capital and ask!

My favorite store for getting gifts for those who seem to have it all is www.redenvelope.com. I love their stuff. They have things are out of the ordinary and also some cheapies for funsy type gifts. They have awesome sales too and you can always find a coupon online for free ship or something. I just got their $48 terra cotta pumpkins (no more lopsided carving for me) for $23 on clearance BEFORE Halloween, and free shipping too.

And for those who love coffee...I very highly have to recommend www.lioncoffee.com which is straight from Kauai. We tried this while there in September and we LOVE it. We order it online now and have it shipped directly to us. I'm getting it for all my coffee loving friends this year. It's excellent, personal, and much cheaper than Starbucks too.

If you order, try the 'Cafe Hawaii' ...it's my fave.

I've recently been looking for Christmas ideas too. Here's what I've come up with so far:

There's a bread kit at Walmart for $7.97. That's in Canadian funds so it must be lower in the U.S. if your stores carry it. It comes with a clay bowl and they have many different varieties of flavours. I picked up a cinnamon raisin one. Supposedly, you add soda water and mix. After it's been heated, you get bread in a bowl!

Browsing through the World Wildlife Fund catalogue, there are some cute adoption kits. There are choices for wolf pups, tigers, polar bears, and dolphins. Each kit is $40 (also Canadian, I think) and includes a description of what WWF is doing to help protect these creatures, a plush Russ toy of the animal, and a personalized certificate with the name of the person whom the animal has been adopted for. There are also other gifts too, like a dog leash for $14.99 ($CDN), t-shirts, etc. The website is http://www.wwf.ca/HowYouCanHelp/PandaStore/PandaStore.asp

A little more pricey but still a nice gift is the adoption of a foster child in a foreign country. Christian Children's Fund and World Vision are two, but I know there are others. A donation can also be made in someone's name and it's a very heartwarming gift for both the giver and the recipient.

A box of President's Choice cookies (the Belgian chocolate variety, yum!) always goes over well (under $10, I think) too.

Donating blood is a good idea too, even though you may never know who the recipient of your gift is, for those who are lucky to be healthy enough.

(edited to add blood donation idea and correct WWF website)

Each year my grandparents and I exchange animals from www.heifer.org. (I think I just finally learned how to make an active link on here. And italics too!)

Heifer International is a charitable organization which gives various types of animals to poor families all over the world, and as part of the program those families then pass on offspring to other families, spreading the gift. An excellent gift for people who really don't need or want anything, and tax deductible as well!

Regular gift ideas are so much harder.

Thank goodness for online wish lists! And for anyone who buys from them, don't forget to update!

Edited to add: italics didn't work.
