The spinel is from Mastercut Gems. It was in the sale section, I saw it, thought it was pretty, and it was inexpensive so I just bought it.



The sapphires were a partial purchase partial trade for the orange garnets in my last post.

koolchick: if your hand shot is any indication, you did very well with those sapphires. As to the Mastercut spinel, I am such a sucker for that bluish purple color - please post pics when it arrives!

Minousbijoux, I hope so. Yvonne said they're quite nice in person and I trust her. Really so long as they're not super dark I'll be happy. I have dark hair so dark studs will just get lost on me. I'm not opposed to a dark stone in a ring or pendant though. She did say they were heated but I don't care. I've made the decision I'm okay with basic heat treatments, just no diffusion or anything like that.

I do love that sort of purplely blue as well, I enjoy a cool color palette.

Blue, specifically blueish green is my favorite color. But lately I find myself drawn to purple. So when I saw this I just sprang for it. If it looks even remotely like the photo I'll be thrilled. I'll be sure to start a thread on it as soon as it gets here. I'm thinking a ring

It's a beauty, VL! Tiny but irresistable. Steve emailed when he sent it: "You're gonna LOVE this stone." Yep. Will try to get pics this afternoon -- I'm looking for my loupe now; used it to eyeball the hallmarks on my candlesticks & can't figure out where I put it, growl. Anyway, the stone is spring green with a tad of blue & beautifully cut. Sparkly. More asap. Thanks for asking -- I'm waiting for your alex too.

The light here isn't good but they're a really nice bright blue! I could see them in the box even before I turned on the kitchen lights. I can't wait for them to be set, I've already emailed DanielM and am just waiting to hear back!

I can't wait for next years Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales.

I had my eye on that beauty but had to let it go... it's the same measurements & cut as a spinel I acquired a few months ago. I'm really looking for a well-cut oval. But that one was hard to pass up. I was also drooling over this one:
