Opal inlay mounts

There are not too many makers I know of but why not. There is one issue: what stone is goin into the ring? Colored stones are not a restrictively proportioned as diamonds, so, one might end up with a great setting, a great stone and no way to put the two together !
These opal inlays are one-at-a-time, custom work anyway. It sounds logical to me to have the center stone mounted by the maker of the inlayd band, unless there is some selling policy in the way. Is this the case?

The only reason I was looking was when I went to the jewelers yesterday, he was going through a gold mounting book looking for settings for me. And I was trying to explain to him that I wanted to have opal inlays and a few diamonds, but that I wanted the tanzanite to be inset. He told me that he had an opal inlay book of settings but he couldn't find it. So I was just thinking that I might be able to find it cheaper over the internet.
When he was showing me the gold mounts he was saying he could put the opal inlays on certain places on the gold and then diamonds on the other places on the mount. I just thought that maybe there was some place that I could just search for mounts. But I haven't been able to find any place.

This is not an usual receipe - opal inlay. The huge mass of ready-made models really is an e-ring related phenomenon. And what you are looking for is not part of it.
I suspect Garry would know of these kind of things since opal inlay is sort-of Aussie fashion statement in jewelry, if anything is ! HERE's one not-so pretentious shop, but with very well made inlays. There are others... of course, but this is the only one I have an idea of what their work looks like. Ready made settings are not very likely, and the quality of the opal set in them a whole different story.
