Given that it is a new year, I would like to embark on a new project, however, I am not set on any particular stone. I was browsing a website and came across this pad and I wanted to get some opinions. I really like its chunky cushion cut, seems to throw off colors. There is an imperfection, which I see in the photo, but I think IRL it might not be a big deal. Tell me what you think. Measurements are: 7.57 x 5.84 x 3.48 (1.34cts) & is heat treated. BTW, I am thinking of the possibility of rose gold...

bump....

I don''t know much about Pad''s or sapphires. Hoping someone would chime in.

I saw this thread earlier, and I wasn''t deliberately ignoring it. I''m not a pad expert, so I hope someone like Linda W. chimes in on this.

Considering how rare really good ones are, I wouldn''t expect miracles. And regarding rose gold, I think there''s enough rose to it (in terms of color coverage) and very little orange, so I''d think about yellow gold - unless you''d like it almost completely pink, but then it stops being a pad, so...

Hi omei,

I saw that pad on NSC website. I played the video. To be honest, the colors looked wonky to me. It looked like there was lavender in the combination of colors.

Now it may just be how the colors are playing, but lavender is not a pad color. If you really are interested in it, have them send it out to you so you can look at it yourself.

True pad colors are either orange/pink or pink/orange. There have been a lot of posts on pads on PS. You could do a quick search by typing padparadscha in the search engine.

Thanks Linda. After educating myself on pads, I do realize this one does not quite fit the bill in terms of what a should be displaying, which is why one should be cautious. I do think its colors were interesting and truthfully, I was drawn to the lavender color. This stone has been heat treated, so I am not sure if that might have played a role in its "different" colors. Perhaps I am the one who is a bit wonky in my taste, as I do like the different mixes of peach/pink and purple. I need to think about this one and perhaps look at other stones.

Here is a link to what looks like a really nice one.

The picture is nice, (probably enhanced???), but the video doesn''t do much for me. What do you think CMY?

Tee hee, I agree. I don''t care for Tanzanian Pads.

Not that I am an expert, but that one did not do anything for me. Not a fan of its color, but thank you for trying to help me...

The colour looks very light and uneven. It doesn''t do anything for me.

Honestly - I really like the one from NSC despite its light color (and the lavender). The price seems to reflect its "imperfections" too. I suppose I just don't like super deep, vivid "ideal" pad colors - the one from AJS Gems made me go EEK!

It just shouldn''t be sold as a pad though, being it has the lavender color. To be fair, it may be just the picture too.
