Also since we've got so many other brass balls hanging out in this thread...I wanted to say that one thing that bothered me that was said earlier re: posting to threads like this rather than helping others...no one is 'entitled' to anything. People are on here of their own accord, spending their own time. They can and will post as they see fit. If I am not posting to a thread like this, it does not mean I will automatically be over answering every thread that gets posted by people looking for help. I actually do love helping people, but it always irritates me when people get pissed off if they don't immediately get help, especially if the topic is not an easy one.

Dazed Land ... you took the words right out of my fingers. I was just hesitant to say it as plainly as you did. But since you have the courage to 'tell it like it is' - I'll second your feelings!
Ditto
...Tritto?

MrsSalvo, no more apologies! This is the way it's done around here and I'm glad people like you do what you do to keep it that way. I'm newer than MA and even I can see that. Yeah the verbage does say "Your" but so what. Most of us lurk before we post and even if we don't we can certainly observe and see the general ropes of the place. Maybe all of us are a little showy (excited? elated?) when it comes to showing off our goodies but it's just a bit too much IMO to take things the wrong way and not appreciate when others are obviously appreciating your beautiful jewels and trying to be helpful to others seeking certain looks/designs.

OT PS: MMM your ring looks great!

PSS: What does ETA stand for? (noticed others used this in lieu of PS)

I am very late on this thread, but just for the record, anyone can repost pics of my ring (that is when I get it). I think it is VERY FLATTERING when someone takes their time to look it up, and repost it. It shows they thought of me and remember my (future) ring.

mrssalvo, please don't feel bad for what you did. I am grateful that you and others in the PS community take the time to do so. It helps a lot of people along the way. THANK YOU FOR TAKING YOUR TIME TO HELP OTHERS BY REPOSTING PEOPLE'S RINGS.

MA, I understand how you feel, but you have to remember that when someone is reposting your ring, they're not automatically thinking, "will she be upset if I do this?". I think it is very fair when they give you the full credit after they repost your ring. A few people have said if you don't want it reposted, the best thing to do might be don't post them in the first place. I agree with that advice. JMHO.

I would give one of my brass balls for a mojito right now, served by Cyrus at Abajo -- Cyrus with the black curly hair and sapphire blue eyes who fills a pair of jeans like no other I''ve seen. sigh.

Just chiming in...isn''t this a "public" forum? I think most of us feel the same as evident from previous posts...we all love the pics and are supportive of others...I do not think any one person''s posting of someone elses ring is meant as anything but flattery...however, since you, specifically feel extra concerned about your particular pics, I am also confident that since an entire thread has been devoted to this, they won''t be posted by anyone else anytime soon...next issue!

Wow Can''t believe this thread turned out to be a boiler!! (I posted my opinion WAAAY up at the first page)

(1) For future reference if there is anyone who wishes to use my pictures for anything... Go for it..

(2) I wish I can have nearly as many beautiful pieces of jewelry as MaryAlaina for people to post. LOL

MA, you are entitled to your own feelings/opinions ... so I promise I won''t post any pictures of your jewelry.
Looking at your signature, I''m certain people will not make the mistake of posting your pictures either.

Greg is fond of saying that he is certain I have a testicle floating around somewhere inside my body, because I have way too much testosterone for a wimpy female. It never fails to crack me up at the idea. When I am being particularly hard to handle he says things like ''I can see the testicle is moving around again''...

Bottom line: This post is about vanity. Being able to showcase a ring yet again and getting noticed for it.

Mara, that was just mentioned in passing more or less, no one is agonizing about it. But gosh...6 pages of this crap is a bit much. Especially when people are being offended by a lot of it. There are a lot of threads out there where people have been asking for advice or CONSTRUCTIVE opinions that barely have 6 posts, let alone six pages of posts! Of course, no one is entitled to have their posts replied to, but it would seem more worthwhile IMO to spend all this energy on something better. But by all means, if this kind of thing amuses you guys, or gives you a way to spend your time, go for it. It just doesn''t speak very well of the group as a whole, IMO. You and others seem to pride yourselfs on not being all that sensitive to other people''s critisms and negative opinions. More the power to you. I just wonder sometimes if that makes you a bit insensitve to other people who may not have personalities made of elephant hide. Funny thing about me is, I have a pretty thick skin where my own feelings are concerned, but I tend to get more ticked off when I see other people getting picked on or treated unfairly. Some of the snide comments and cracks made about MA and the pics of her jewelery seem so juvenile, but maybe I''m being naive and that''s how you guys WANT to come across?

Bottom line: This post is about vanity. Being able to showcase a ring yet again and getting noticed for it.

Well, I''ll admit that the SMTR section can be about vanity in some cases... I recently bumped and added photos to an old thread o'' mine. Partly to be thankful(since I ain''t getting nothing else diamond-y anytime soon) and partly because most people outside of Diamond Fetish Central here could give a flying fig about rings.

Usually SMTR is fun for ideas, scheming and just drooling but the occasional ego-boost is definitely a function..why not?
3.gif

I''ve had my photos posted once or twice and loved it! As long as it''s not in a "What Not to Do with Diamonds" thread(which honestly I sometimes feel it should be in

).
