Oval Sapphire Opinions

Last update for a while, very glad to say our search is over! Purchased the Preloved Madagascar sapphire from @luckygreen317. It is 1.68 carats, unheated, and has a GIA report. 8.06x6.10x3.98, we paid $900.

Very grateful for the support of Amy and Priya at David Klass for sending videos and helping coordinate this sale from a distance, turns out our jeweler is on the same street in LA as DK! Stone was picked up by our jeweler who will start working on it after the Vegas gem show. It will be about three weeks before it's done, we will have CAD images before that. Can't wait to see this stone in person We are told it's darker than the videos, which is expected. Unusual way to purchase a stone, but we had limited options at this IMG_8210.pngIMG_7534.pngprice point, and our son is thrilled! Thanks to everyone who gave advice and feedback here along the way.

I am so glad the stone found a new home and it all worked out. I can’t wait to see the final ring.

Hello everyone! Sharing an update on the finished product. The sapphire we purchased here in the preloved section was perfect for the project (1.68 carat, unheated Madagascar). Special thanks to @luckygreen317 for sharing her beautiful stone! My son proposed in September and his finance is absolutely over the moon. He is very pleased with what he was able to accomplish with his budget.
It’s been a whirlwind around here as we prepare for a January wedding, had to come share the ring photos! IMG_8809.jpegIMG_9071.jpeg

This is beautiful! Can you tell me who made the setting?

Hi there! My son took inspiration for this ring in a few settings by David Klass. The side profile allows for a diamond wedding band to fit underneath. We used a vendor I had previously worked with through the Tucson Gem Show, very small family business with minimal internet presence. I don’t think they usually do business from a distance. Despite the fact that the ring is on her finger, there were challenges/disappointments and we wouldn’t do it again. DK would be the best!
