Hello everyone.
35.gif
I posted earlier that I was going to buy a beautiful stone from Whiteflash. Well, the husband REALLY did not want me to buy over the internet and it was a little smaller than I had wanted so we didn''t go through with it. He is stuck on the jeweler''s warranty on chipping and wants to pay the premium. I know...I know.... I''m working on changing his mind, but could you all help me on this Peerles diamond? I plugged it into the HCA calculator and it only recieved a 3.4 which I don''t understand because they said it was a super ideal? It is an SI1 G and is eye clean. It has a Gem Ex report stating that it is Very High on Scintillation and Fire and a lower Very High on Brilliance. I thought the hearts and arrows looked great under the Ideal Scope Help:)

SI1 G
. Report: AGS
. Shape: Round
. Carat: 1.138
. Depth %: 62.3
. Table %: 55.7
. Crown Angle: 35.8
. Crown %: 15.5
. Pavilion Angle: 40.8
. Pavilion %: 43.1
. Girdle: 1.2% to 4.0%
. Measurements: 6.62-6.70 X 4.16
. Polish: Ideal
. Symmetry: Ideal
. Culet: Pointed
. Fluorescence: None

What is the AGS grade on light performance?

Or is it an older-style AGS-report, with a grade on proportions?

And could you check that fluorescence. AGS does not use the description ''none'' anymore, but ''negligible''.

Live long,

The crown angle is probably what is penalizing the stone on the HCA, but that doesn''t mean it isn''t a beautiful diamond. You have the advantage of seeing it in person. I would suggest checking it out in different types of lighting and comparing it to some other diamonds if at all possible.

Oops. The light performance is 0 and the flourescence is negligible. Thanks:)

Oh, and it does sparkle but I''m not sure that I''ve seen a perfectly cut diamond. The B & M all say that their branded diamonds are cut well, but they all look like this one.

Try to take some time and go to a whole bunch of B&M stores and look at all the diamonds they have in the shape you want. Eventually something kicks in and you start to see the difference! It just takes alot of looking at diamonds.

That way you''ll feel more confident about your choice.

Thanks so much for your help. I had dinner tonight with someone who called his diamond broker for me. He said that he had a jubilee cut that I would fall in love with. Have you ever heard of that? I''m going to see it on Monday. I feel like a woman obsessed.

I love the jubilee cuts. But do your homework, this cut hasn''t been available lately. And friends that call their diamond broker, isn''t always the best way to go. If you love it, great, just do some research before you see it. A deal is only a deal if it''s exactly what you want, per mrssalvo. Wise words, IMHO. Good luck!!!!!

Totally agree on the deal, but I''d love to see what that cut looks like.
