Well, to be fair, this could all work out...but for now I''m pretty steamed.
I rushed to the post office to pick up my newly won pear/almond cut peridot, only to find when I got it home that there is a noticable chip along the girdle near the point. This was NOT mentioned in the listing. Never mind the fact that the color is not as deep (did I really think it would be?) and there are a few inclusions just noticable to my eyes, much less the loupe. I don''t realy mind those; they aren''t glaring, and I did not ask in advance about what exactly they meant by "clean." But I am definitely upset about the chip. And there is no way that it happed enroute -- it was packaged very well and was sealed in plastic, so any shards would remain as evidence. And I KNOW I did not do it -- I noticed it almost immediately, even before examining under my natural daylight lamp or with the loupe.
My friend still has my digital camera, but I am hoping my BF has his work one with him when he gets back. I will definitely try to post pics, especially since I need to send them to the seller.
Here''s the problem. I still really like the stone and I have had my heart set on having it. Would it be silly to keep it if the seller agrees to pay for the repolishing (I hope that it is not more serious than that!)? I feel like it was a pretty good deal without the chip. What do you guys think?
