I think you're right, I'm just so done with this. I don't want to keep looking at settings and I feel like I'm being a pain to my jeweler. I showed it to my boyfriend, explained what I don't like, and he said "it looks like a ring." Like he can't even see what I'm talking about. So many women don't pick out their own engagement rings, and if he gave me this one exactly as is I would love it. I wouldn't even think twice. But since I've been the one researching and deciding on everything, it feels crazy to not make it PERFECT now that I'm at the end.

Can't do anything now, just need to sleep on it I guess. I'll call her in the morning and see if she can find me more settings or if she thinks I should just go with this one. I'm back to feeling exhausted and overwhelmed. Wish it was easier to get exactly the setting you want.
Don’t let the jeweler decide..Sleep on it..If you don’t love it when you see it press on and find another one..You’re almost there..just hang on a little longer..Don’t settle..

Linking to my ring in the engagement ring thread. It is 2.something at the back, but tapers to 1.8mm where it meets the diamonds. Those are 10 pointers on the sides, .76 middle stone. It gets very very slightly taller at the shoulder, but it is barely noticeable (only a fraction of a millimeter).

To me, I think the flat/pipe-cut band makes it look even more delicate than rounded bands do, but I suspect that is personal preference. I had this one made, imitating one from Brilliant Earth.

Do you think it looks thicker than 2mm? I'm going to ask her to measure the shank thickness tomorrow. I think it's bigger than 2mm and I really wanted 2mm max.

After a lot of misses of deliveries, I finally received the pendant. It's quite attractive to the eye in most lights. Very bright, definitely a bit leaky. I didn't have time to take a bunch of pictures in natural daylight. For comparison's sake, I put my .325/.335 J VS1/VS2 ACA studs (forget which one it is). I tried my best to get both of them in a clear frame but haha proved a bit challenging. I don't have the entire right light setup, I've never done this before, so apologies if it's not informative.

Overall, I quite like the look of it, I can notice some darkness, but I think it's forgivable. It's definitely not cut like an ACA, visibly noticeably different to the eye even. However, the price really forgives these slight deficiencies (next to an ACA of course!).

With my calipers, I estimate the stone is ~4.95-5mm x 3.1-3.2mm deep. I am estimating it's depth from top to bottom of the setting is 4.3, and the bottom part of the setting is ~1.1mm. This would put it at about 62% depth ... maybe more haha, maybe less, hard to tell. Definitely less colored than my J. Very white from the top. I think I will keep it!

Without further ado, here are my shots.

I think it's bigger but hard to be 100% sure. I took some pictures with the pendant and my ring size is 5.5-6.

This is a 2.77mm width shank on my middle finger

It does look thicker than 2mm..possibly because of the taper design next to your diamond.Have her measure that area..

It looks very pretty!

The pink ones are gorgeous! Super sparkly and the cut seems totally acceptable. In the future I probably wouldn’t go below a 0.4 carat with them for a given stone- the 0.2s were significantly less sparkly than my Costco diamonds of a comparable (or slightly smaller) size. Sorry for the crappy pics. If anyone knows how to make an iPhone 7 focus on super close up things let me know!

They look gorgeous! I love the pink color! Are you saying the halo isn’t as sparkly as they should be?

The halo is definitely more white than sparkly, the center stone really is the main attraction here. But I was actually referring to the 0.2ish center stones on the 0.5 tcw white pair. Sparkles, but less than I’d expect. I might try again when they come out with their 1 ctw white princess cut earrings.

I’m waiting to get the white princess cut studs too. I wonder if there are some variations in cuts even in the same size stone...You wouldn’t think so because they’re not cut by hand.

@frogplus What happened with your setting?

I posted an update in my Exhausted and Overwhelmed thread, I already feel like I've taken over this thread with my own search when really it should be about Lightbox only!

The jeweler was frustrated with me and said I would probably be happier with a bigger store that has more selection. She gave me back my LB diamond loose and I'm going to check out jewelers row again just for settings this time. She's still putting a CZ in the LB necklace for me and I left things on a positive note with her, but I think she's right, I want something specific and a small shop like her's doesn't have the resources to get me a bunch of settings to try.

I agree that you will find a much better selection than what you were being offered. I’m happy you will have much more to choose from. They can even order settings in to look at and you don’t need to buy them first. Start copying pics of settings you like so you can show them.

Wow! They look so pretty! I think they look perfect on your ear! Do you like them?

I'm thrilled! Just the right size I think. And they face up just lovely.

Looking a little more closely, the prongs are a little wonky but I have always intended to re-set them.

Right now these 1 ct studs are available, anyone who has been trying to pick them up, run!

Surely these are an F or whiter.
That's awesome! I really want to see what people think these are in terms of the 3Cs. I want to be able to compare the price for these to what I would have paid for the same color, cut, and clarity of a natural diamond or even a graded lab diamond. I weighed my half carat solitaire pendant loose and it was exactly .5 carat so I know that much. Maybe I should send it to a lab for grading... Is IGI the best one for lab diamonds? Does anyone know what it costs or what the process is like? I keep going back and forth on whether I even want to know, but now is the time to do it while it's loose.

Great pictures!!

Frogplus don’t do it IMO. It’ll take time & money for grading and you’re going to get a good idea of what you have from Pricescope as the rest of us start buying these up.

I know, I just want to know so bad! I need to be patient. I couldn't find info about how to get an IGI report but I looked at GIA and it's only $65 for a full synthetic diamond report. I hope someone gets a real report done!

You should be happy with your "eye clean", "good enough" cut and colourless or "near colourless" Light Box MMD instead of trying to compare price! If you really want to think that you "save" a lot, I suggest that you buy a pink or blue 0.5 ct MMD from Light Box. Do you know how much the fancy vivid blue or light blue whatever or pink 0.5 ct nature diamond cost?:mrgreen2:. At least more than 30k usd o_O Then you can compare price and get to know yourself you "have saved" a lot:lol:

I love the sparkle that’s shooting off your stone like fireworks in the bottom three photos!

I'm 100% happy with it! It's more that as I've been telling a few friends about it who don't know anything about diamonds, I try to explain that this same quality of diamond, if it were natural it would have been $x... Maybe $1500-3000 based on a Whiteflash search for .5 D-G VG-ideal IF-VS2? So since this one was $500, it's like getting a 70-85% discount just because it's lab-grown instead of mined. But I'd like to know what a real comparable number would be instead of just guessing and probably being wrong.

I’d just go play with the James Allen tool. I’m assuming an F/VS2 at a minimum because they’re completely eye clean and bright white.

Your lab diamond isn’t any different from the other Lightbox lab .5 diamonds that they’re selling..so you will eventually have your answer. I would bet that many in the diamond industry will buy them and give a review of what they find...IF...they don’t measure up. If they do..then you’ll hear crickets..
