I'm pretty new to posting on this forum (I'm a longer-term lurker), and realized that I've never shared photos of my engagement ring! I knew I wanted a fancy shape for my e-ring.
I was pretty convinced I wanted either an oval or a marquise set in an east-west direction, so I researched what to look for on PS, and went to look. In person, I wasn't as crazy about ovals, and I didn't like the prongs that needed to be set on the points of a marquise.
Then I came back here and researched cusions and emerald cuts. Within our budget, an emerald just wasn't that impressive. So, on to cushions! While checking out many diamond spots in NYC, I saw only a few asschers, and they always stuck out to me. From my PS research, I swore I wouldn't want one, because they face up so small.
However, when I went to ERD to choose a cushion, after having looked around quite a bit, Chris showed me one asscher that faced up a bit larger, and my fiance and I both loved it. I talked with Chris about the type of setting I wanted - super simple, maybe deco inspired, with small claw prongs, and the stone set sideways. I left having narrowed down to 2 cushions and the asscher, and my fiance would do the rest.
Obviously he chose the asscher, and I'm so glad! The day after looking at it, I kept wanting to tell my fiance that I actually didn't want the other 2 stones, but I thought he might freak out if I changed my mind about another thing, hahah. I'm also totally in love with the setting. I know it looks super plain, and no one ever notices it, but to me it is just so perfect and simple.
