Pics from the Chicago Gem Show (May 25, 2008)

Catmom, IrishAngel and I had a lovely lunch at Harry Caray's and then a fun trip to the gem show! We did enjoy one "moment" before we even got out in the car for the show... we were on our way out of the restroom after lunch on our way to the the parking lot when -- jingle jingle jingle!!! We all froze. Then, verrrrry carefully we started creeping around on bent knee trying to figure out what had clattered on the tile floor. All rings, earrings, bracelets, watches were in good order; nothing misisng, no lost stones. Then we realized it was the metal hardware on Catmom's purse strap. Whew!!! But seriously--it was like a cartoon moment, where all of the characters freeze in place (mid step, no breathing allowed!) while we tried to figure our what might be amiss with our bling, LOL!

The show was fun, and I have to say we're getting more efficient at it! In and out, every row covered (including the crazy stuff way in the back -- fur coats; sunglasses; handbags; pashminas; who knows what else... !) in about 4 hours.

I did kind of "cheat" though... on Friday I went to the show with one of my girlfriends from my old office. I''ve been looking for a cute pendant for a while. I was hoping to get a DBY chain to wear it on, but it looks like I''ll have to have that made downtown.

My camera died just was we were going to do the group bling pics so Irish was kind enough to snap some. And speaking of bling, there is a lovely ruby and diamond eternity band from today''s outing too that I''m sure will be making its appearance any moment now!

Here''s my new little baby...I''ve been pining for a ruby/diamond eternity band for a long time, and DJ haggled the price for me!

This guy does AMAZING work. I have a photo of another setting that I've spent the past hour trying to crop/resize. I hope this works. (It's not the best pic--I took it through the glass case from some distance away, but you get the gist...)
