Seeing all the beautiful threads on dresses you guys have on this forum made me want to share mine! I don't have the actual pictures of me in the dress, but interstingly I tried on the same dress that you see on the photos b/c it was a trunk show and the dress used was the one the used in th fashion show so it fit me perfectly! I have a similar body shape as the girl in the photos - I'm 5ft 6.5 inches and 105 lb with blond hair.

The dress that I will be getting will be slightly puffier than the one on the picture b/c it will have an extra skirt sawn into the dress. The picture you see doesn't have a skirt underneath. And as you all probably hear, the dress looks a whole lot better and more dramatic in person than on the picture.

Also the reception will take place in what used to be an old opera house. So I wanted something dramatic but a bit unusual yet still classic.

I can't find a really nice picture, but here is a picture of the hall just to give you an idea.

BTW, the beeding on the dress is washed out on the pictures, but in real life the detailed beeding on top of the dress is just beautiful.

Scintillating...

Scinillating, why the gasp?

Wow, that is glamorous! The hall and the dress!!

The dress is very beautiful and will go over very well in that grand operahouse!

Wow, just gorgeous!

Also, I hate you. (for fitting into a trunk show dress worn on the runway! JK!)

Seriously, though, congratulations! What a find!!! I think that dress is definitely dramatic, elegant, classy, and unique all at the same time. And, like I need to tell you, you simply cannot go wrong with a KP dress. Can't wait to see your wedding pics!

Kaleido, WOW!!

Scintillating, why the gasp?
Because the dress and the location are INCREDIBLE!!!

Wow, what a fabulous dress! I love it and I''m sure you will look amazing in it.

Wow, it is going to go perfectly with the reception hall! Congrats!

TravelingGal, FireGoddess, Skylah, SanDiegoLady, AmberWaves, Scintillating, Curlygirl, and Rascal49 thank you all so much for the compliments. I absolutely love that dress! It was actually the first dress that I tried on and the first one that caught my eye. I then shopped around for the next couple of days and came back to that dress!

I have another problem of trying to figure out what will go best with that dress, a necklace? earings? tiara?
BTW, I decided to wear my hair up.

I'm not sure if the necklace will be too much and it may just be best to get a nice pair of hanging earings. But then should I get a tiara or would that be too much? Would it just be better to put flowers in my hair. Any advice?

Beautiful dress and location.

I think you should keep that yellow dress from the location picture in mind for your honeymoon :)

WOW your dress and venue are both INCREDIBLE!

I think I would probably not wear an elaborate necklace with that dress, maybe just fancy earrings like the model? I think if you wanted to do a tiara, maybe lay off the earrings a bit too...no necklace, diamond studs, and a tiara would be perfect!

Haha, my first thought reading through this thread was that THAT was why Scintillating was gasping - because she though Kaleidoscopic was saying the yellow dress was her wedding gown!

Here are my thoughts. Get some knockout, amazing earrings and skip the tiara and necklace. That dress is a showstopper and too much jewelry or other sparkle will take away from it. JMO. With your height and hair color, you will look fabulous in it with no other embellishments whatsoever.

Are you going with a veil for the ceremony?

albicocca and Skylah,

I think you guys may be right and I had the same concerns as you did. It may just be best to go with earings and maybe orchids in the back of my hair - simple and elegant. People keep pushing the tiara on me though, but I just feel like its not a typical princess dress and it may be a bit toooo princessy with the tiara. Besides, if its good enough for the Kenneth Pool fashion show, its good enough for me

I will wear a vail for the ceremony, but probably for nothing else b/c I just love the back of that dress! I was thinking a long cathedral veil, any thoughts?

Wow, that is one heck of a dress!

I think a single layer, silk tulle cathedral veil with no embellishments would be perfect unless you really want to wear a blusher, and you can just add that, too. I think the back of that dress is TDF so definitely keep it sheer and long. That will look incredible!

As for the tiara, here's my honest opinion, don't hate me BUT..... I think it will take away from the glamour of the dress. JMO, but if you're going for elegance (and from the venue, I think you are), the tiara won't do. Some dresses are made to let the woman wearing it embellish it with other things (jewelry, feathers, etc.) - not this one. This dress is totally stand alone.

I have to say that with a dress like that, you really don''t need much in terms of accessories. I would definitely not do a necklace or tiara. Go with nice drop earrings, maybe a bracelet and some pretty hair pins. That''s it. With a dress that has so much going on, less is more in the adornment category. And for the veil, keep it very simple as well. While I love a cathedral veil, you don''t want anything competing with the bottom of the dress. You may want to try something a little shorter, like fingertip length. But it''s a tough call--you should probably try on a few different lengths and see what works the best. And PLEASE post pictures of yourself in this stunning creation!! I''m dying to see a "real" person in it!!!!

Amazingly Gorgeous!! And what a perfect fit for the opera house!

So, am I the only the one here who thinks ((dress + opera house) == swan lake princess)?

OMG! I love it! (I also hate you that you could fit into that dress

) The venue is gorgeous as well.

love it that dress! i just saw it this weekend. you are going to look fabulous! the opera hall looks incredible too!!

i would do only chandelier earrings. no necklace. no tiara. nothing but fabulous earrings.

will you be posting you in the dress?

Thank you guys for the help,

I think I may just go with the chandelier earrings and it will also be less expensive

.

Curlygril, I was also thinking at one point on having a shorter veil because I didn't want the detail of the dress to get hidden. The back is just great and when I will be standing back to all the guests at the ceremony, they will not be able to see the dresss in all its glory. So that is why I alsot though of the short vail. Yet from the front I think the cathedral veil will just look elegant and dramatic. So I too am torn.

Skylah, I think you are absolutely right about the tiara, that its a no no. Also what's a blusher?

I'd love to wear the cathedral veil, except my only hesitation is that it will hide the back of my dress at the key point in time where that's all people are going to be looking at during the ceremony. Help?

A blusher is a shorter veil worn in front that covers the face. There are a few ways of having one, either a separte blusher or as a part of the drop veil. But here''s a pic of a cathedral veil and I think it is gorgeous and doesn''t hide a thing. Plus, people will see the back of your dress for the entire night so i say complete the look with an elegant cathedral veil.

Here is a picture of a beautiful drop veil that would really show off your dress but also be short.

Thank you Lauren and snow_happy for the lovely compliments!

Skylah, I love that long veil and the detailing on the bottom! I know when I was purchasing my dress another girl was trying on a cathedral veil with gorgeous forgeous detailing on the bottom that I absolutely loved - but I think it was rediculously expensive (I think around $700-1,000) so I quickly took that off my list of things I want.

Do you think the detailing would add to the dress or take away? The dress doesn''t have a long trail so I though it may add if the vail is a lot longer than the dress.

I also love the fact that the drop vail has one peice that serves to cover the back and the front - can one have the same feature in the long cathedral vail (just one peice performing both functions in front and in back)?

BTW, as far as pictures go of me in the dress, I actually have them on my parent's camera from when we paid for the dress, but they won't let me see them!!
29.gif
I am so furiouse about that b/c I didn't want to put them on my camera out of fear that it will increase the chances my FI will see the dress accidentally - but now they have been withholding the pictures form quite some time and refuse to send it to my e-mail. I think they pictures are finally off their camera and on their computer so I may sneak onto their computer and find the file the next time I'm there.

If not I'll post pics after I have my first fitting and my friends will be able to take the pics and send it to me.
