lovelylulu!
I was so busy posting my pics that I completely missed YOURS! How amazing! I do love the rum punch shot. Reminds me of some of our nights! It''s amazing how early you go to bed and wake up in the islands, though, isn''t it?
Your wedding was beautiful! Oh, how I love Vermont!

Lulu!!!!!!! How did I miss this thread?????? It all looks so amazing!!!!! I''m sooooo glad things went well, and I know just what you mean about not caring about the stain on your dress...one of my Bridesmaids showed up and her dress was a little darker than the others, and I didn''t care at all!!! And I too got very emotional right before the ceremony...but anyway back to you!!! You looked absolutely GORGEOUS!!!!!!! Everything looked beautiful!!!! Oh, I''m soooo happy for you!!!

tybee: it is so true about being in tune to the sunrise and sunset - i kept saying to my honey, "it''s like we''re camping, but much, much nicer"

Petit St. Vincent was incredible. We flew from Connecticut to Barbados with a connection in Miami. Although, we could have caught a small plane to union island that same day, we opted to spend a night in barbados on either side of our trip. if we had longer than a single night we would have discovered more about Barbados...but because we spent such a brief amount of time, in only a small part of the island (basically the st. lawrence gap), we couldn''t really get a feel of the place. we stayed both evenings in barbados at the hilton, which was newly renovated and fairly convenient to the airport. normally, my husband and i would seek out smaller hotels that would be more personal and representative of the place we are staying, but due to the time constraints we thought that the hilton would be good in this instance. because it was our honeymoon, the hotel upgraded us to a lovely oceanview suite and threw in some very nice champagne

from barbados we took a mini-plane to union island. also on board that plane was a family taking a sailing "holiday" for the next two weeks-- their family had been in barbados since the 1600s, so they were full of great little historical tidbits and left us with all sorts of information. the flight is about an hour, but we took an unanticipated stop on a different little island to drop these folks off. the airports on these islands are something to see -- one room, thatched roofs, little security, kind of refreshing. and the views from the plane were unreal! and while i have no fear of flying, these tiny planes are quite a ride.

we landed on union island and got ushered to a boat (approximately 20-30 minute boat ride) and we were finally on the island

some very nice folks met us with a pina colada and welcomed us to PSV. we were taken to our cottage and lunch was spread out on the table. all of that traveling was well worth it!

guests at PSV have the option of staying in a cottage on the beach or a cottage on the bluff. everyone has their favorite and it seems that there can be no wrong choices. we opted for a bluff and it was ideal for us. bluff cottages are a bit more secluded and because you are higher up, the breezes and the views are spectacular. there is no AC on the island, but we really didn''t find this to be at all unconfortable due to the persistent tradewinds and the multiple ceiling fans inside the cottage. each cottage has its own deck with two chaise lounges and a hammock which we used constantly -- the deck proved to be an especially good spot for star gazing. inside the cottage there is a living room, a very roomy bedroom and a huge bathroom area with gorgeous stone shower. the "cottage" was nearly as big, or maybe bigger than our beloved DC apartment

we loved waking up early to see the sunrise, take a walk on the beach, read. then breakfast would delivered to our room -- there were loads of options and all were quite tasty. normally, after breakfast we''d head to the beach. the beach cottages had specific little shelters on their swath of beach, but there were other shelters that we, the bluff cottages, were welcome to use. the shelters consisted of a thatched roof with a large hammock underneath, two chaise lounges, a table with two chairs and a big thermos of ice cold water. you could get anything delivered (drinks, food) to your shelter throughout the day. we would snorkel, play backgammon, read. there was also a very nice/clean bathroom nearby that housed a beautiful shower if anyone happened to be feeling too sandy and salty. the amazing thing was, even though there were most definately other people around, the beach did seem like our very own because we rarely, very rarely saw other people (unless it was dinner). it wasn''t that it was an unfriendly place, just that there are enough nooks and crannys. it was perfect.

we borrowed the sea kayak and went all around the island, we hiked up the hills to take in the endless views (and rainbows), we took many walks on the beaches, played tennis, snorkeled -- so there were always lots of ways to keep busy. we also took a chartered sailboat to the tobago cays (about 1.5 hour sail) for a day of splendid snorkeling. the reef around PSV was great, but the reef at the cays was amazing. this is where we had the pleasure of swimming with a gang of sea turtles and schools of fish. we also were treated to quite an impressive lunch.

the owners have a cocktail hour each week and we got to met with them and hear all about the history of the place - there is also a beach BBQ lunch and one fantastic beach bbq dinner under the stars with great music, people.

i could go on and on and on -- and i know it was sort of a rambling post -- so if you have any other specific questions i''d be more than happy to try to answer them.

thanks all for looking at the photos. like tybee mentioned, posting them is so much fun, because you really do relive the whole experience!

Your veil-- how happy you look and that GORGEOUS reception site! Your vases are perfect with the hydrangia''s. Congrats!!

Ooooh, thanks for the details on psv!
We really just came back from our honey moon hours ago (still haven''t showered in Atlanta yet...) and I''m planning our next trip. Sadly, we''re flat broke after house buying and the wedding, but a girl needs something to plan for and to look forward to!

tybee: i know, i know -- i keep thinking how can we keep traveling? where''s the next place we should visit? how ever could we afford it? between reliving the wedding and planning our next hypothetical getaway (maybe we should renew our vows in mexico...) i''ve been a complete daydreamer since i''ve gotten back to work

Your wedding looks awesome and so do you and your man!!!! I like the look of the luminaries...hmmm id like to do something similar. I''m having a totally Fall themed wedding...but I dont think I can carve that many jack-o-lanterns! Maybe a couple :)

Anways,

I love your BM dresses. My friend and I tried on that dress (we are both getting married and are both in each other wedding so we just try everything on together) but it didn''t seem to look as great on us as your BMs. They look awesome!!! If you don''t mind me asking...how tall are your BMs? I am very tall (5''11) and I thought I looked too leggy in that dress but now when I look at your pics it looks really awesome right too the knee which is about where the dress was on me (if i remember correctly). It doesn''t help either that we were both trying on dresses in the same dressing room which was really dark hehe.

You guys look like you had an awesome time!! Congrats!

my bridesmaids were all different shapes and sizes -- the tallest was about 5''10 and the smallest was probably about 5''2 and she actually did shorten the hem of her dress. i think that the dresses turned out beautifully. they were a little more poofy than i had envisioned in my head, but they were really fun -- especially twirling around out on the dance floor!

You looked absolutely gorgeous and so did your day. Congratulations!
