The same diamond at original diamond at Original Diamonds - listed as a fancy intense pink with very slightly diferent measurements, also stock # 5438, listed at $15,365:

http://www.original-diamonds.com/pink_diamonds.php?action=view&type=Pink&id=956&page=1

It is the same stone... isn''t it? Are they just freakishly similar? One is reported as 5.12 x 4.31 x 2.93, the other; 5.13 x x 4.30 x 2.94 (the GIA cert is shown).

I''d have to agree. There just aren''t that many pink diamonds out there for there to be two emerald cuts the same size.

Make that 3 gals! Also, if you look at the other fancy colored diamonds on original-diamonds, looks like many of them are also offered on the other site mentioned. So one of the two is probably the company that actually has them, or maybe they are "virtual" fancy colored diamonds, although I highly doubt all of them are.

Hmmmmm, about how big is your budget, Lisa?

Thought I''d build the budget around the stone (I know this sounds so gratuitous) - I mean I''d like to research the hell out of pinks and ultimately get the best deal. I think .35 - .5 cttw or around there would work.

Ninama you''re killing me w/ photos - right up my alley!

Independent Gal - I''ll look into graff - thanks!

this is pure shameless fun........

Hi Lisa, just wanted to mention that although there may be some "deals" to be had for some pinks, you should go with what makes you happy and with what you are willing to pay. Case in point, I had an appraisal done on a pink I purchased that I thought I did fairly well with price wise, but the appraiser came within $500 of the price I paid not to my favor. I was surprised, but then again, I bought the stone because I fell in love with it and did the appraisal because I needed it for insurance purposes and of course my own curiosity

Just thought I would share a terrible photo I have of some of my pinks. The ring on the top - I really want to change the mounting.

I don''t know how I missed this thread. I''m positively drooling here!

THIS is one of my favorite alternatives to the pink diamond. I really love the way a tourmaline lights up.

Kroshka.... you lucky, lucky woman!

Thanks Ninama - I am indeed. I think in the future I will need to start a thread about how to reset the pink!

oops... too many avatar changes for one day, I guess! Oh well...

I saw this pink spinel at multicolour. They grade it at a 3 tone with a 5 on the saturation. It does have a small window and slightly "off" cut. I think it is deep enough to be recut though. I would be willing to bet that Jeff White could turn this spinel into an amazing stone.

I bet he could. Check with him how much weight loss there''ll be, though.

Yes, Kroshka - please! I''d love to hear the story, too.

Come sit by the fire and tell us.

Story? LOL, are you sure you really want to know? I''m a crazy fancy colored diamond fan that never received an engagement ring. Thus after becoming more and more obsessed with colored diamonds over time, well, let''s say DH has had to deal with it and probably wishes sometimes that he did the traditional thing by going out and buying a diamond ring to present at time of the proposal. Let''s face it, once you get hooked onto these stones, one colored diamond is never enough. You end up wanting one of each color and sometimes even more than one in each color since there are so many different shades and combinations. I figure I''m entitled to more than one since I didn''t get a honeymoon either .....j/k (well maybe not - hee hee).

Oh and to answer the question you really wanted to know - where did I get them..... Well the top stone in the mounting that I really don''t like is from DBL (DBL didn''t make the mounting, I gave a local jeweler a try and well it didn''t turn out as expected). It''s an interesting stone that sometimes really transforms - I''ll try to post a photo to try to illustrate. The fancy yellow is a half carat radiant that was bought years ago from a small jeweler. The stone was loose for some time and I really wanted to wear it so I had it set in a simple stuller mounting with 2 fancy pink rounds I bought from a gem dealer in California (wouldn''t recommend him though since I don''t think I got that fair of a price on them).

About the fire side photo - which one am I and which one is Ninama and Lisa? lol.......

Never mind the poor photography, but I also didn''t have ideal lighting conditions. The left side was taken with what little sunlight I could catch and the one on the right is near the window but obviously there was no sun, only natural light. I also forgot to mention if you are wondering why the solitaire stone looks a bit purple - you aren''t seeing things - it''s because it''s actually GIA fancy pink-purple.

Thanks, Kroshka! It''s just so unusual to encounter someone who actually owns a pink. My guy knows how much I love diamonds and I''ve mentioned pinks, but, well - it hasn''t produced any results (yet!)

You can be anyone in the picture - I actually did search for one that more *diverse*... I have long, straight, almost-black hair, so could be the one on the left. I doubt any of them have tattoos like mine, though.

LOL!! I am definitely the one with hair tied back looking over Kroshka''s shoulder at her delishious fancies! I''m hiding in part because I don''t know where to start but I know I''m obsessed. I''ve got a local discount jeweler looking into some stones in NY. I should probably contact NY directly.

Hey all this guy is selling this on ebay for 5500 - what do you think? I know the main stone isn''t pink but it sure is purty.

Apparently its a Simon G.

Wow, Kroshka has some beauties! I would really love to own one someday, but I think cost may be a bit prohibative.

This is something I have been drooling over for the last year. I have no idea of the price... although I''m sure its way out of my range.

But it is sure fun to dream! 3.06 Fancy Purplish Pink SI1.

Very pretty setting - as is a lot of the Simon G ring mountings. I always love looking at the ones that have pinks or yellow diamonds in them.

- That''s it Missrocks - That is THE ring!!!!

I saw some pink fancies at the maul (princess, RB and oval) today but they were all enhanced and graded by EGL.

There was this intense pink oval, very clear, that made me think--it cost 8K.

i know how ya feel ladies! i LOVE pink!!! it''s my favorite color, so it makes sense to get a diamond in that color right? hell yeah!

and then i found out how much they cost....

yikes! squashed that dream quick style! kekeke...

omg kroshka! you''ve been hiding your goodies!!! your rings are fabulous! do you have a seperate thread for them??? where is the linky??

so i''m looking into other options cuz the pink diamond thing is definitely NOT going to happen. i think i''ll be getting a beautiful pink spinel like choron''s.

Hi Milly,

Well as you can see I''ve been a member of Pricescope for more than 4 years with very few posts
23.gif
. Guess you could say my jewelry and I are still pretty shy

. I haven''t created a separate thread for them, although maybe I should. I''m contemplating starting a thread for ideas on how to reset the pink purple since I think the stone would be better showcased in a different mounting. If anyone here has ideas for it - by all means speak up!

You own a fairly large percentage of the world''s existing pinks! Considering that they comprise only .04% of what is mined annually (or something ridiculous like that).

Be proud and brag shamelessly about this pink heritage.

I think you are my best friend
