Ooh can someone explain the difference?
I've always wanted to know!
Just be careful, because much of it is diffused or coated (not sure if that bothers you). Natural pink topaz is beautiful, but somewhat rare.
Ohhh this thread is right up my alley. First, I prefer sky blue bordering on Swiss blue. London has too much grey for me, making it too dark. I want pool-water blue, Gulf of Mexico blue, sparkling crystal-clear blue.
A long, long time ago I worked at a department store that sold fine jewelry. There was a diamond trade-up program, we sourced from Harry Winston, and merchandise ran the gamut of price points from very affordable “best value” items to mid-range colored stones to commercial-quality (read: mall store) gemstones. However! We had this trio of cocktail rings (an amethyst, a citrine, and a blue topaz) with huge centers and yellow gold settings, all very sleek/modern at the time (late 1990s). I was absolutely in LOVE with the blue topaz piece and I’ve searched for something like it ever since. I remember it was $570 and back then I made $5/hour plus 10% commission after I covered my hours. So if I worked 30 hours in a week I would have to make $150 in sales before I started earning that 10% commission on anything, just to give an idea of affordability.
The topaz was swimming pool blue, emerald cut, probably 15x10mm, but the setting! Omg the setting was just fabulous. It had these thick tubular prongs that held the center stone but underneath the center was an entire band of square-cut invisible set blue topaz. I wish I could draw it or find a pic.
I’d buy it in a heartbeat right now if I could find it!
Excited to see your blue topaz journey!
blue are all irradiated right?
only pink and orange and white are natural

The blues are all irradiated except there are some very pale blues found, but they are pretty light tone, and not as pretty as the more electric blues. The deeper and more vibrant the blue, the more expensive the rough is.
