Hi repost hoping someone can help - thanks to diamondseeker 2006

2.64 carat
H SI1
8.93 x 7.21 x 4.87
Girdle medium - slightly thick
67% depth
67% table
Strong fluorescence

Asking price os $24k US but I think I might be able to negotiate down a little.

I definitely want rectangle proportions and like the crushed glass look but keen to hear objective opinions on this stone.

Looking to finalise within the next week. Thanks so much

From the photos, it looks like a nice cut with some beautiful contrast. But it's tough to really tell without seeing movement (like in a video).

Some H's can carry severe brown tinting. I can't tell from the photo exactly what's going on, but there does seem to be brown in the edges (bottom photo). Did you notice this in person (especially from the side view)?

Thanks - I haven't seen it yet. Stone is in NYC and I'm in Australia. They will send it over but are looking for 80% commitment. I know what you mean re bottom image - looks almost like a different stone. But I love it in top image.

Is the price reasonable for size and specs?

I would highly recommend having them send it to Neil Beaty. http://www.americangemregistry.com/ They should have no issue doing this without the 80% (or any) commitment. And Neil has a great eye and will be able to ASET the stone for you (which will tell you it's performance) and also be able to tell you his honest thoughts on the stone.

This is 100% what I'd do if I were you. You will pay for shipping and the appraisal. But you will get piece of mind.

If you want to skip this. Call Good Old Gold. And work with them. They are our best fancy shapes vendor and will be able to get you an ASET before you buy and make you a video.

So either work with Neil for this stone. Or just call GOG and tell them what you want and have them find you stones.

Or both.

Great thank you. I've contacted GOG so will see what they can find also.

Cheers

I would not buy from just those 2 pictures. I think it looks really bad in that second picture but its probably the picture.
(but I wouldnt take the chance being that you live out of the country). You need some better pictures or like Gypsy is saying
have it looked at by an unbiased appraiser.

Have you looked at JA? They can do aset images and they have up close videos so you can see the faceting pattern.

What are your specs? Maybe we can make some suggestions.

Thanks I've looked at James Allen they had some nice stones too.
They are willing to send the stone over for me to inspect so I can also have an independent appraisal done by local jeweler.

I know what you mean about second pic.

Cheers

First photo looks nice but it seems like it has slight brown body color in the second photo.

ETA: I just saw that they're sending it to you for a look. Do take more photos once it's in your hands. :))

GOG have suggested elongated cushion cut as an alternative

I'm definitely not adverse to that but haven't been able to find anything rectangular enough.

Ideal specs are:
Radiant or cushion with proportions around 8-9mm x 6-7mm
G-H
SI1

My current stone is:
- 1.33 carat D SI1 radiant
- 7.5m x circa 5.something (don’t have specs on me here)

I've looked at a cushion cut previously (2.75 carats) but against my current stone it just didn't 'face up' that much larger.
Any suggestions much appreciated

Thanks everyone! :appl:
