I actually sort of like it better with out the halo when you compare them side by side...i think the miligrain is pretty on the one on the left. Either way I''m sure it would be beautiful, but thats my preference with the pictures....even if choosing less diamond is sacrilegious on this site!

What do ya''ll think?

Wow!! Great stone!!!

I love the look of that last necklace! Can''t wait to see the finished product!

Here is what I know for sure about what I want:
I want the necklace to be 16"
WG
I want the stone to be stationary
I don’t want the stone to flip
I like at least two small little diamonds in the chain, bezel set
I am unsure if a halo would make it prettier or not
I am not sure what size diamonds to use for the halo if I get one or for the chain
Any thoughts are welcome!

What a beautiful stone. I love the last necklace you posted with the little diamonds up the sides. It will be a somewhat dressy & fabulous necklace.

Not sure... it is large, a closed bezel would look like a heavy and not so small bucket ... to me at least. If someone can make an open back bezel (like THIS) it would be nicer, IMO. There could be some construction on the back to keep the back of the stone away from the skin too if preferred.

The previous pictures imply a very thin halo - less than 2mm wide, and that gets back to the usual paved strip of pointers. The ones pictured on the chain would be small too (10 pts each maybe) to look like that.

Any thoughts are welcome!

Just a vote for the simple non-halo version with larger diamonds on the chain

. More than that would turn the piece in a evening-only affair to me. The simple sounds allot more wearable. It all ends up to the question ''where and how do you want to wear this''.

I''ll try my hand at some pictures asap.

I want this for everyday wear, with polos, tees, button downs. I am just so in love with this stone I wish yall could see it!

... I didn''t want it to look ''too good to be true'', but it just might

MAJOR DROOLING RIGHT HERE!!!!

The chain is perfection, exactly what I had been seeing in my mind....light and pretty with little sparkles!

Something like THIS ... the prongs are missing from the picture. The details should be settled between you and the maker - it is a safer guess that way.

Who made the basket in that picture? Was it PlatniumSmith? That could be really yummy!

Yes. I think a pricescoper has it.

There is something about this spinel that will need taking care of when choosing the setting - it has a window. The large pictures must be making this look 100 times worse, so I am not sure how much this matters. I would just ask the jeweler who will make the setting how can this be taken care of. Usually settings help obviate small windows like this - how, it depends on what is available in the shop. There''s usually some detail on the setting on the back of the stone that reflects though the offending window at 30-40 degrees tilt. But...this is just a guess - I don''t know what is done.

ana...you are so awesome! wow...that looks really really really good!

Matatora, I love the halo pic that Ana posted. I also like the other pic without the halo. I guess if you want an everyday necklace the one without the halo might be best. I am no help am I???

No! You are mirroring my own thoughts. The one with the halo is delish, so pretty and wonderful, but then the one without the halo is clean and sharp and very pretty. I love the basket she choose for it as well. I think I would want the stone set straght on and N/S for the longer side. This is just so amazing!

My BF likes the one with the halo...So I am think I will steal Miss Anas fine work and send it to a few places and ask for a qoute. I know WF would be a good choice, who else?

The necklace ideas are really GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!

But have you thought about having the sapphire bale set so that you can take it off the chain.

I have a diamonds by the yard necklace clone that I use alone, with a diamond solitare or a south sea pearl. It''s really very versatile.

I have a DBY necklace but I never wear it. I like things that are attache to chains, not sure why. Which is funny becuase I move my locket around to three diffrent chains.

Is it the one with multiple stones or solitaire? Would it work to use it as the chain to attach the spinel to? That should put it to use...

I was SO excited to see that your stone had arrived! I have defintely been drooling over this entire thread...The stone is gorgeous! I love the color!

As for settings, that halo Ana designed looks stunning, but I am a halo kind of girl.

I also like the idea of a plain bezel with no halo. Or it would look terrific with claw prongs...Oh, who I am kidding! I don''t think you can go wrong with this project. Just make up your mind and get it made already so we can covet it...

I dont like to wear it becuase the stones flip constantly, and the chain is not to my taste. I am thinking of giving it to my sister. I put it on Ava as a joke and my morther was spitting kittens.

LOL! You should have taken pictures! I bet that was adorable (Ava, not your mom spitting kittens)!

That last one posted with the halo is stunning. For some reason I like that much more than the first halo, maybe because there are more diamonds added in the chain? Its more formal, but really a beautiful design!

oh man oh man... halo please!!!!
