Hi all,

You are all so knowledgable and I would really appreciate som help finding the perfect mount as my timeline steadily shrinks (need it before the holidays) and doors keep closing. I thought I had a mount lined up locally and would buy my diamond online, only to get the runaround for a couple weeks and end up with no mount. Yesterday, before finding these amazing forums, I had the perfect ring mount picked out right here: http://www.faycullen.com/Settings/Art-Deco-Ring-Settings/6931/

Then I decided to double check Fay Cullen reviews and make sure they are reputable...they are apparently not and their return policy's ridiculous (my favorite line in the warranty is "The number and size of the diamonds [we replace under warranty] will be dependent on the attitude of the customer.")

Anyway...my girlfriend has given me some guidelines for a mount style, and after searching high and low I've also developed some very specific taste, so here's what I'm after with links and all the good stuff.

For a mount I like a combination of the following, and I'm having a lot of trouble finding something I love online (stores locally are worthless, I've gone to every one I could find!).

Pave, halo, some filigree detailing, the center stone sits a little bit low (not completely flush though), round cut that will fit around a .70-.80 stone.

Links to rings I love:

http://www.tqdiamonds.com/shop-online/engagement-rings/tacori/dantela-collection/tacori/tacori-18-karat-dantela-engagement-ring-2620rdmnp.html
http://idjewelryonline.com/product_info.php?cPath=42_44&products_id=1524&cType=ER (would prefer some filigree instead of the front/back pave)
http://www.pearlmansjewelers.com/jewelry-designers/beverley-k-jewelry/rings/61PP1/ (I hate how there's not a good side view :( Can't tell if I like it or not, have to call)
http://www.pearlmansjewelers.com/jewelry-designers/beverley-k-jewelry/rings/115PP1/ (This could be the one? Waiting for California to wake up so I can call and ask!)
http://www.pearlmansjewelers.com/jewelry-designers/beverley-k-jewelry/rings/112PP1/ (love it, but way too much for this poor guy!)

I have budgeted around $1,000-1,300 for a mount and $2,000-2,500 for a center stone, as my total budget is $3,500 out the door. I realize I may have to be flexible on the stone in order to find the perfect mount, but I could get lucky and find an awesome mount cheap.

For a center stone I am thinking about a .73-.75 ct. SI2/VS1, G-F color, ideal cut with a table btwn. 54-57% and depth 60-61.7%, GIA cert. based on the research I've done on optimal cut specs (again, totally open to suggestions here!) stone in the mount, which I estimate will be around $2,500 (I've been looking at BlueNile.com, but am very open to other suggestions - people here seem to like White Flash).

Thank you all SOOOO much for any help you can lend in finding a perfect mount. You all know so much more than me, and browsing these forums has been enlightening and overwhelming! I truly appreciate your help with this, it's the biggest decision of my young life!

Re: Please help me find the right vintage style engagement r

I really like that 2nd one from Pearlman's!

Re: Please help me find the right vintage style engagement r

I like the second one from Pearlman's, too! You seem to want antique-style and not actual antique, yes? Because otherwise, http://antiqueengagementrings.com/ might be a good place to look. They have gorgeous vintage rings ...

Re: Please help me find the right vintage style engagement r

I would LOVE to get an authentic antique ring if I could get one within my budget! I'm checking that link out right now. I'm glad to hear two people like that Pearlman's setting, I like it too and Bev K seems to get respect here. I will be calling them as soon as they open. I'm in Ohio, so the time difference is killing me!

I appreciate the link, keep them coming! Although I've tried to search the web hard it's not going great. I've found a ton of far better sites through the people on PS forums (including Bev K and Pearlman's), so I would really appreciate more reputable site suggestions! Antique or antique-style, I like both and would obviously prefer the real deal if it's within my means (so would she!).

Thanks so much everyone, keep it coming!

Also
http://www.jewelsbyericagrace.com/

and I saw this for sale too, it says it's pending but it's Beverly K and it's beautiful! You won't be able to match the price even close buying new!

I'd also contact Jonathan at http://www.goodoldgold.com/
They have some nice settings
I like this setting (but it's not a halo) but you can ask Jonathan if they have access to any nice vintage halo style settings with your budget.

And a couple nice stones!

(need to check if this one is eye clean...because if it is it's a great stone!)

ETA: You should also check out
http://www.singlestone.com/ They can be more expensive, but Ari is great to work with and he has many more pieces in his store than he does listed. So I highly recommend emailing him your budget and what you like and see what he comes up with! Some times he'll have vintage settings he's restoring and are a great price!

Re: Please help me find the right vintage style engagement r

Wow! Great suggestions. I will contact both of those guys right now and see if they can help at all. Thanks so much!

Re: Please help me find the right vintage style engagement r

No problem!

Jonathan at GOG is a great vendor. He has videos to help you decide which cut style you like best, which color you like best, and is all around helpful and great!

Ari is also great too! His emails are usually pretty quickly responded to. Good luck!

pearlmans is located in battle creek, michigan, so they are in your time zone.

If you aren't interested in upgrading and are interested in different styles, you could hunt ebay and www.rubylane.com but you have to be careful. The seller has to have good pics of the stone so you know what you are getting, but that's where I've had the best luck finding vintage pieces on a budget and getting more bang for my buck. I'll go seach now, and I'll find a few styles, good stones (I wont check the sellers though you'll have to do that) and get back to you :twirl:

Can I know her finger size and what color you're looking for? I'm a size girl and I love warmer stones (if you look at singlestone and jewelsbyericagrace you'll see a bunch of warmer stones that are beautiful) and so that's what I prefer, but they aren't for everyone. Let me know and I'll go hunting!

Re: Please help me find the right vintage style engagement r

Just talked on the phone with Bill Pearlman. Very impressed! For some reason I didn't realize he was in Michigan, what are the odds? So I'm going to pursue that 2nd Pearlman's mount while looking at all other suggestions!

Re: Please help me find the right vintage style engagement r

Bill is great! I used to live in MI and wanted to go check out his store but haven't had the chance to and now I live in another country! Keep us updated on the progress!

Good luck and congrats!

Lots of great suggestions. I love the antique look as well. Van Craeynest has some beautiful options as well.
