I hope your mate is quick with his camera should you go for a ride in the river. Those would be some awesome shots. (A video would be even better.)
I'm fairly new here, but my other hobby, albeit less $$$ but more labor intensive, is gardening with native plants. My very small urban yard is a National Wildlife Federation certified habitat and a monarch waystation. I've "raised" generations of bluebirds and people freak out because they get mobbed by butterflies when they come over in the summer and fall.
Thank you! All you need is some native milkweed for your area and they will come.beautiful! I've never seen a Bluebird. Love the Monarchs. Haven't seen as many around here as I used to but my Butterfly bushes died so maybe that's why.

I used to dream of becoming a lepidopterologist when I was a young boy. I raised many butterflies and moths from eggs to adults. I am curious, where do you research doing a small native species garden?
This is a terrific shot! I love watching waterfowl eat like this! Mallards are close to favourites of mine. Seeing big Canada Geese, or swans do this is quite something.

Love how cedar waxwings congregate in big flocks, sitting high in the morning sunshine, singing their songs.
It reminds me of blue tourmaline quartz crystal.
