I earned a master''s degree in busines management in 2000, went back to school for PhD degree in genetic epidemology in 2003 and expect to graduate by the end of this year.

I got my DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) from Iowa State University in 1997
Husband has a PhD in Nuclear Physics also from ISU (1996)

Other family members also have advanced degrees (grandfather was an MD from U of Iowa, mom has a Masters in Social Work also from U of Iowa, brother a lawyer also from U of Iowa, other brother a PhD in Astronomy from U of Minnesota) - it''s been a long hard road for every one of us, so I really respect every one on here who has dedicated so much of themselves to their respective course of study - congrats to everyone on your accomplishments!

I just got my JD last weekend! Now starts the painful summer of studying for the bar

Master''s in Rehabilitation Counseling, 1998.

DH is in master''s program in Environmental Science.

Eleguin - Where are you taking the bar? Good luck!

1996 - Bachelor''s of Fine Art in Creative Writing.

2001 - J.D.

I''m thinking I''ll probably get a Phd at some point. I want to teach. Being a lawyer is sometimes not fun...

littlelysser: I am taking both the NY and NJ bars. Taking the bar review course in Washington DC this summer for the NY bar and self-studying for NJ. Where did you take yours?

Masters in Counseling Psychology, but did not do a practicum so now I cannot see patients, I did not get the hours in. (Two kids and moving across the country did it for me!). I could do psychometry, which is the administration of psychiatric tests, or go on for a PsyD or PhD, but at this point I am not going to pursue it (had a third child and am just too crazed!). But I do not regret getting the education at all...worked hard for it, graduated with honors so I am proud of that at least!

I took the PA bar in 2001. I know some folks that had trouble with the PA bar did great in New Jersey...

Studying for the bar is no fun! No fun at all.

Do you know what you are going to do come the fall?

I did a master's degree in biology, finished in 2004. It was really, really hard on me, only because I totally wasn't intrested in my research project. It inspired as much passion in me as moldy, 10 year old bread. I'm SO happy it's done with.

I'm doing my MD degree now. A LOT more intresting, a lot more fun, but it's also SO much more work. I'm a little exhausted and counting the hours until the summer.

I am less worried about the NJ bar than I am about NY (22 subjects, a lot to push into this head of mine). In the fall, I am moving back to NYC to work in a firm, in the finance & real estate group. I will probably be doing a lot of commercial real estate deals, in other words working around the clock

Wife has a Pharm.D

eleguin -- i feel your pain. almost. I studied for the bar in DC and then flew up to albany for the exam. i have a lot of friends that did the combined NY/NJ...You can do it!!! just hang in there. your august is going to be sublime!

Hi ECF --- I grew up in Ames! and i also did part of my undergrad at ISU :) i just wanted to comment. :) My dad worked in the Physics department at the same time your husband was there getting his PhD. my dad does bio physics though, nothing to do with nuclear.

Masters of Science in Education in 1997 from Northwestern. Best thing I ever did for myself! At least that''s what I say every month when I sign the check to the good people at Sallie Mae.

Starting my Masters of Maritime Archeology

MINE! That sounds absolutely fascinating! Where are you in school? Are you specifically interested in any particular era/region? As an undergrad, the majority of my courses were in Archaeology. I was particularly enthralled with Egyptology. However, my absolute lack of competence in foreign languages (especially dead ones!) and my lack of interest in teaching when not on a dig (most realistic way to manage to eat when an archaeologist) killed a career in that field. My bookcase is as full of books on Egyptology as Pediatrics!

GO CYCLONES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Small world - I don''t meet many people from Iowa, let alone AMES very often (we live in Michigan now). Nice to know you are out there!

MBA with Marketing concentration May 2007 (and it won''t be soon enough). My undergrad was in psychology but there was no money to be made in that field so I decided to go back to school in order to change careers. I hated working in a mental health facility for the SEVERLY mentally ill

Masters of Engineering Science

You have me cracking up over here. We always joked about the people that were getting arts degrees as being the smartest people working at Burger King. I know it''s soo wrong, but I just can''t justify the expense of a degree when I can just buy a few book and be just as knowledgeable. Having said that, an education is not equal to intelligence. Some of the smartest people I know don''t have degrees and some of the PhD''s that I work with don''t know which way is up.
Firegoddess,
My best friend went to Lehigh and got his BS in Electrical Engineering, I hear it''s a great school.

I''m starting a Culinary Arts program in September. Not a masters or PhD, but I graduated from college already so it is technically a post-graduate degree...

Master in Publich Health (MPH), Master of Health Science in Epidemiology (MSc) and finally an MD specializing in Internal Medicine.
I have spent WAY too many years in school!!
After I framed all my diplomas I recall my parents telling me I should also add how much each degree cost underneath (LOL). Finally paid off my medical school loans and can now focus on more "bling bling"

I have a M.S. in Human Nutrition.

Very useful, even when you''re not working in the field (and just being a mom). I''m lucky that I''ve been able to use my degree in all my post graduate jobs.

HI:

You did well!!!!! BTW, you might find this interesting that any MD wanting to secure a staff position in a "teaching hospital" (e.g. affiliated with a University) where I live in Canada, you must also posess a graduate degree Epidemology.....since research/evidence based practice is the fore and (new) specialists/practioners are expected to research and inspire their students to the same...... Perhaps this is the same where you are.....

I love all the interesting degrees on here -- what a great mix.

Here''s to my uninteresting one,

JD, 2004

I just love to learn and my dream path would be to get a Phd in British Lit. (I was an English major as an undergrad) -- obviously not for practical reasons.

Particularly for engineers! And a beautiful campus!! Though being on the side of a mountain, walking back home from class uphill was no fun.

But I LOVED going to Old town Bethlehem during Christmastime...so fun!
